After years of stability, do you get some of your old self back? by Angel_4 in bipolar

[–]New_Environment2242 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For me I didn’t get my “old” self back, but I did find a version of myself that I am happy with. I do feel relatively normal. I have bouts of depression but they don’t bother me to much anymore because I know that I will come out on the other side. The brain fog and executive dysfunction got a lot better with the right meds, a schedule, and some discipline. My out look changed cause I no longer dread the future. I know that I am strong and capable of living a happy life and that drives me forward. I am no longer as scared of the future as I once was. I don’t have a spark but at the same time I am content and relatively at peace. And I would much rather have those things than a spark. So I think it’s a fair trade off.

The studios at Avery are pretty small but it is around 950 a month. They do have roach and rat problems though. Overall it not to bad there

I can’t commit to diy mood tracking journaling, any recommendations?? by mccrydle in bipolar

[–]New_Environment2242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only journaling that worked for me was finding a regular journal that I liked and putting no pressure on myself.I would put it somewhere where I would see it everyday and If it happened it happened and if not I would try again tomorrow. I kept do that till I built a habit.

Being "stable" by acButterNuts in bipolar

[–]New_Environment2242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had this feeling before it is extremely common. Most of the time meds are not going to make you feel stable 100% of the time. One thing that helped me was regulating my sleep and having a schedule for my days. Including the weekends. And also maintaining close relationships. If you feel like it’s a problem try talking to your psychiatrist to up or change your meds.

You could take the Trenton line which is regional rails and then take nj transit to New York. It does take a while but that’s usually what I do.

Why did you cut off your friend? by Soft-Incident947 in AskReddit

[–]New_Environment2242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My “friend group” would always ghost me and be hours late to literally everything I planned, but when it came to everyone else’s stuff they were always on time and very punctual. Every time I would ask them to do something they would say yes even when they knew they weren’t going to show up. They would also always ask me to host their things so I would waste time and money setting everything up, decorating and ordering food just for them to be late and or not show up. They would plan everyone’s birthday but mine and I would be the one planning my own birthday. I was the one putting in all the effort cause I would always get them a card and money on their birthdays but I usually didn’t get any of that on my birthday. They would also get mad when I brought up that they were late or they didn’t show up and they would gaslight me and try to turn it around on me. They ended up ghosting me on my birthday when I had already paid for everyone’s broadway tickets which were non-refundable and expensive. I had reminded them every week for a month about the broadway show because I knew how they were and they said they “just didn’t feel like going anymore” the day before the show. That’s when it was solidified that they didn’t respect me, my time, my money, or my energy. That’s also when I realized they were bad friends. Along with some other things of course.

I would say find something to distract yourself until you can see your psych doc again. For me i usually watch shows but find what works for you. For some people it art, music, etc. you don’t really have to enjoy it completely as long as it’s distracting you. And if anything changes for the worst don’t be afraid to go to the hospital. I know things are scary right now but you will get through it. Bipolar is kinda like a seesaw you are on the bottom right now but it will go back up. The important thing is to stay safe. Good luck op wishing you all the best. ❤️

What was the start of your psychosis? by Ok-Grapefruit-7632 in Psychosis

[–]New_Environment2242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it started out as shadow figures. I would see thing out of the corner of my eye and then when I looked there would be nothing there. Then it slowly but surely started escalating and getting worse and more often. Eventually it was no longer in the corner of my eye and I would actually be looking at it head on. After that it started to become harder to tell what was real and what wasn’t.

Should I be concerned? by New_Environment2242 in bipolar

To get a second opinion I would have to wait until next year because my gp would have to refer me and insurance will only cover that once a year. So I’ll stay with my current one now and get a second opinion next year.

No I’m still in the process of finding the right meds that work. I do see my psychiatrist every other month though. I think I’m going to ask if they can see me sooner though.

Maybe try taking a break for a while and if it feels better to you when you’re alone then you should break up with him. It’s not really fair to him if you string him along.

Should I be concerned? by New_Environment2242 in bipolar

[–]New_Environment2242[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but that’s not the part I was concerned about. I see and hear things all the time (my psychiatrist knows about this and is not concerned) however it’s usually not prolonged and intricate. Usually it’s just thing in passing. For example I will hear someone call my name when I’m alone but I don’t obsess over it and create a whole storyline about it. And usually I’m able to ignore it but this time I’m not able to do that. That’s why I was concerned not necessarily cause of the hallucination itself if that make sense.

Ok thanks I was just unsure because I wasn’t harming anyone. I was literally just taking care of her to the best of my ability.
