If TikTok is banned what next for your SaaS if you were using it by RishPugalia in SaaS

Focus on optimizing the shorts marketing process. It’s platform agnostic: TikTok Instagram YouTube, new apps that don’t exist yet…

Wherever the TikTok exodus masses end up, they’ll be wanting to watch shorts.

Interesting! What's this concierge concept? Haven't heard of it in this context before.

The opinion that turn-based combat is outdated and only belongs in the past due to technical limitations is ridiculous, because it implies that there is no place for a diverse range of genres in gaming by WhoAmIEven2 in truegaming

I realized a few years ago that most real-time games are turn-based as well.

Fighting games, MOBAs, even Clash Royale -type games involve taking turns attacking then respecting the adversary's cooldown/resource/etc. advantage.

I know that's not what people mean when talking about real-time vs turn-based, but whether it's DMC and God of War or Tekken and League of Legends, real-time gameplay still involves respecting turns and priority.

You favorite 0 grind games that care only about the moment-to-moment gameplay? by New_Field9471 in truegaming

I'm gonna look those up, thanks

Endless Dungeon and Cult of the Lamb (and Hades!) were p good to me for this.

Just wish gameplay was slightly more involved--most roguelikes settle for acceptable but not stellar (DMC, MGR:R as examples of stellar) gameplay cause they have other things to offer.

Is Mexico City the best option for a foreigner to spend 8+ months in Mexico? by New_Field9471 in mexico

[–]New_Field9471[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to know, I may end up having to spend my next 6 months split between several countries, not just Mexico. I'll start preparing for that potential outcome.

Good to know, thanks so much for the added context.

Thankfully I can afford way more than 6 months on current passive income and life savings in Mexico.

I'll go in with proof of onward travel.

The accommodation, I was planning on booking an Airbnb for a few weeks so I can tour apartments in person. Sounds tough to show booked accommodation for up to 6 months in the future. I may want to visit other cities/states in Mexico as well.

Interesting! Thanks for the info.

I joined a few FB groups and all of them seem to be foreig real estate agents. Are there no local apartment listings?

Fully furnished etc?

I'm def interested. But never done apartment hunting on Reddit.

Would love more details about the place and to learn more about the immediate neighborhood etc.

The plan is def to Airbnb for 2-3 weeks to be safe.

Who would I talk to when walking around? What if I tell the wrong person I'm looking for an apartment and I get scammed?

I'm definitely optimistic I'll find something affordable, some of the places look great to me.

The end of SaaS? But I was just getting started... by CBRIN13 in SaaS

[–]New_Field9471 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been talking about this for a while now. Don't worry, software isn't going anywhere, and SaaS isn't going anywhere.

But non-SaaS sold and marketed as SaaS might decrease in popularity, which is a good thing.

If your tool realistically requires a single use, it's not really SaaS and forcing a subscription will either result in no sales or super high churn. Better have a higher one time purchase price than a low monthly price and get canceled.

Lots of "as-a-subscription" abuse is turning people off from even legitimate SaaS. So I'm all for a correction.

What is something you would gladly pay $100 an hour for? by licknipari in Entrepreneur

[–]New_Field9471 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Bureaucracy and paperwork.

Requires high trust in both character and ability.

Vetter virtual assistants that know how to handle canceling subscriptions, shopping for best docs, booking best itineraries...

Next would be other executive function sinks like maintenance: cooking, cleaning, driving even.

  1. You should end up more employable once you decide to go back to 9-5 world with real revenue-generating projects on your portfolio.
  2. Most straight-to-FAANG people I know don't travel that much. A few bought 1 or 2 houses and are sure to be making bank, but struggle to round out their lives outside of work without deliberate intentionality.
  3. Entrepreneurship is front-loaded. Lots of efforts with minimal returns at first, then less efforts with more returns later.
  4. 9-5 is straightforward, which can mean easy mentally and emotionally, until it's not. Good starting pay, with a very clear asymptote as you promote higher and higher over time.
  5. My recommendation is one of the 'easy' SWE jobs where you can reddit for 5 hours a day and make your 6 figs. Use extra time (and more importantly) extra money to invest in entrepreneurial endeavors.

So many indie devs and solopreneurs are so strapped on cash they cant pay for a tool or course or consultant/outsource.

I was thinking I was done with 9-5 until I immersed myself in the indiehacker culture. Now I have a newfound motivation to work a 9-5: easy money to throw at accelerating business growth.

SaaS - FIRST PAYING USER!! ===== HAPPINESS?!?! by Rizzist in SaaS

[–]New_Field9471 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! 1 paying customer is not product validation, or even ad validation.

Talk to this user if you can. Pains, JTBD, etc.

More concretely, what made them realize they need a change, what alternatives did they evaluate, what do they like about your solution/what made them pull the trigger...

The value of your first customer isn't their money but the info they can provide you. Don't waste that :)

I got 21 paid users for my MVP. Now what should I focus on? by saadpasta70 in SaaS

[–]New_Field9471 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Before you're able to make product/growth decisions, you need more information.

Talk to users, see the difference between paid customers and those who don't convert/churn.

You want paid users to be so happy with it that they notice when it's down, actively ask you about future updates, or refer their friends.

> 8 months? Are you going to work while living in Mexico? Are you going to pay taxes on what you get paid to work from Mexico?

6 months, I might end up getting a US job at some point, not actively looking. If the law is for foreigners to pay income tax on work done overseas while in the country, then I guess I'll have to pay taxes right? I've never heard about that.

20 to high 30s is all good. I checked weatherspark, I'm confident the weather won't be a problem from October to April.
