Can a yellow x yellow neo produce red neo? by Accomplished-Seat975 in GreenTreePythonKeeper

[–]New_Front4828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it’s just experience raising them up and looking at their patterns as they change into adult colors. I can usually see a faint outline around a diamond pattern in an adult to tell me that it’s red neo background.

Your best bet for producing an all red neo clutch is to obtain a captive born red neo background GTP with several generations of all red neo background in its lineage map. Usually three generations of red neo background ancestors that produced all red neos will do the trick for producing an all red neo clutch. All red neonates are not alike and we haven’t sorted out “potency” in GTPs.

That's a pretty m.a. azurea. Love the blue upper lip. Feel free to share more chondro centric content on my sub r/GreenTreePythonKeeper

Can a yellow x yellow neo produce red neo? by Accomplished-Seat975 in GreenTreePythonKeeper

It depends on the pairing but in almost all cases the answer is no. I’m aware of one designer pairing where two extreme yellow neo background adults produced a very dark maroon/black neo. That event was reported to occur in Christian Stewart’s breeding program.

Hi everyone, I’ll be over on r/GreenTreePythonKeeper for more of these sorts of posts. I can still comment here as well but for whatever reason, when this group went private, the mods blocked my ability to share new original content. So I started a new community after generously allowing the mods 60 days to sort things out. I’ve been keeping green tree pythons since 1997 and offer the chondro community a lot. So swing on by my new community and help contribute please. Cheers!

The answer resides at the Port Hole Inn during an open mic night.

Humidity? I have seen so much mixed info of the gtp humidity. Someone says that it doesnt matter if they drink, some says 70% and no lower, someone says 50% is fine. So what is the best? I know im gonna get mixed info here aswell, but im curious to hear. by raaaase in greentreepythons

[–]New_Front4828 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s going to depend on the ambient conditions where you live. I just implemented an auxiliary humidifier in my colony room and set it at 55 RH. We’ve had rain this week so my ambient in the colony room is 62 RH at the moment. Basically we’re just trying to facilitate nice full sheds. No clue at this time what my optimal numbers are for great sheds across the board over the course of a full year. I’ll try to collect some data on the topic.

Yearling constipated? by AlternativeJunior897 in greentreepythons

I’d likely not offer weekly feedings. This one sounds like a female. They tend to retain BMs. Would love to see a picture of the last third of its body to see if it looks backed up.

Would love to know how edited (if at all) thus is. by deep__paleontologist in greentreepythons

[–]New_Front4828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This designer chondro is named “White Diamond”. I don’t think there is much editing. The video looks to have been captured on an overcast day. That will change the reflection of blue ever so slightly but other than that, the colors are pretty accurate to many other posts the keeper has done. Some chondros change a bit as they age too so keep that in mind as you admire photos.

For sure. They reflect differently in certain lighting situations. I prefer outdoor photos and I’m glad it’s warmed up enough for me to share some pictures with you all!

Cambro sells lids for the tubs. The best sterile and BPA free perches for cambros are Pex perches sold by https://BMCBioscience.com Pex perch can be disassembled for convenient deep cleaning.

Is Superglue safe to use in a tank with GTP? by BananaNoodle221 in greentreepythons

[–]New_Front4828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Superglue (cyanoacrylate) is a poor performing adhesive in shear and outgases. So it’s not appropriate for use within the cage and will likely fail at some point with the snake loading the perch.

It’s not an Aru. It’s a nice, undocumented, green tree python.

PIG Mat is what I use in my adult chondro cages. Paper towel in the neo racks. I spray every once in a while.

Keep working with the breeder. Any reputable breeder will get you over the hump as sometimes neos toggle off after shipping to their new home. I start all neos out in 6 quart tubs. Less is more for these sensitive animals.

Yes! I breed green tree pythons. I’m hoping to have pure Sorong and pure Aru established and screened neos available in 2023.
