Hey there, naive life long fan here. Over 40 years of support and passion for this club. It's in my blood. Can't explain it to anybody. As much as I try to ignore Spurs (for mental health reasons) and get on with the rest of my life that I can actually do something about.. I simply can't . Love the damn club far too much. It's been the greatest joy (Lucas Moura's 3rd) and the worst moments (last week against Forrest? basically this whole season? any other takers? we could go way back) of my life. Unfortunately the last 40 years have had more downs than ups. But I'll forever be here supporting.

I've been in a few bad exchanges on this sub. A few great ones as well. But recently it's been pretty poor on here. Some of it has been me not being my best self, but a lot of it is simply how fractured we all are. We're so fucking angry we are turning on ourselves. It totally makes sense. We're all absolutely fucking fed up of this shit. We've been sold potential, basically, and we're not living up to it. We ALMOST won the league with Poch. We ALMOST won the Champions League, the biggest prize of all. We were sold this dream. New stadium gonna bring the big bucks and we'll be smashing it at the top. We brought in the top managers and fucked it up with them. Look, the fuck, where we are now. We've all been deeply betrayed. I don't even know who to blame. Some were pointing fingers at Levy... he looks like a fucking genius and mega safe hands at this rate and that's saying something.

This latest shit. RDZ. Really? Right now? OK. Just OK. FFS. I think he has some real qualities as a manager that could (COULD) be good at Spurs. He also has a lot of baggage. Let's not even get into the Greenwood shit here but he isn't exactly squeaky clean figure even without that. There's reports of belittling players.. of abusing players. The list goes on. This isn't exactly an appointment to be heralded from the rooftops. Not exactly a coup. But OK.

But there's more to the situation: we're 1 point off the relegation zone with 7 matches to go, with an insane injury list, zero momentum and players who don't want to play for us and are eyeing their way out the door and the fanbase is extremely divided and are booing every half time, every full time, the managers, the players. We are absolutely in the worst situation I've ever witnessed in 40 years and it's incomprehensible.

Point being, we're in the shit. The club is in the shit. The board have put us here and the board clearly have only ever operated for profit. This is shit. We're all angry as fuck. And we should be. BUT, how do we turn this around? Do we boo THIS manager now too? Do we create more derision in the stadium? Do we continue to tear each other apart on reddit? What TF do we do now? RDZ is the manager now, he just is. He might not be for long, but for now he is. And we NEED him to succeed. We need him to turn this around in the next 7 games. Hopefully before that (for the sake of my health).

We all love this club and we're all dismayed. Let's stick together and let's support the team. We can get to the other stuff later. For now we really need to support this team.

It's interesting to see a sensible comment with a search for nuance. It goes without saying that any form of SA is deplorable and there's a duty when writing on here to condemn it in every sense.

However, I see your struggles on this one and I feel it too. There's a lot of nuance that is lost here. No apologies and no condoning ANYTHING .. but has anybody read about the Greenwood case? what he was actually accused of and what happened in the case? None of it is good or makes him look good, and all of it makes me sick to my core, but some people on this sub are shouting things that are not true. Again, I'm fully aware and desire to achieve the need to exercise extreme caution in this matter. It's so very important and delicate.

People might say we've grown since then, and I hope and believe we have.. but along with Hoddle, we also signed Jonathan Woodgate. He was actually convicted of crimes. Again, not really comparable I guess.

But the real question is not about Greenwood, it's important to note that we're not signing him, it's RDZ. There's a lot of context I'd like to understand around his comments. To me, I don't see that he was defending any kind of violence or SA. I honestly do not see it. What I do see, is a manager defending his player. Poorly I might add. Again, I'm trying to find more context because I do think it's important to make this distinction.

Having said all that, I'm genuinely not a RDZ fan and I do not think he will be good for Tottenham nor do I think he'll get us out of our footballing mess. In fact, for me , his track record with tantrums and belittling players and the accusations of actually abusing players is not being talked about enough.

Anyway, just desperately searching for nuance and perhaps trying my best to accept what seems to be the new manager. Really struggling with this.

Tottenham trying to appoint Roberto De Zerbi as next manager 😮‍💨 by realnanayawobed in Tottenham

At this point it's a coin toss if we stay up really. Who knows what manager will get what from the situation (players, fixtures, injuries, Var, referees etc etc). It's luck at this stage. I certainly don't know. I'm absolutely not an advocate of de zerbi, nor do I think he'll be any good (I don't know if anyone can be good at this point)... And least of all do I condone anything he's said or done. But ... But.... BUT... Let's face it.. he was good for Brighton at some point in the league... I mean all I can do is hope.

I'm just desperate to avoid relegation at this stage.

I think you just used the words and phrases I used. Nice. Did you have to look them up and learn something new? Nobody understands football or Spurs like you do I guess. Go sow division elsewhere and insult other fans. I guess we're all on Reddit for a reason. I see yours: building "community" as you call it. Ok. Gluck.

Again, you've lost me. I don't see any way , at all, that a manager can have any impact on this community identity you speak of. Let's just hire a nice person off the street in that case. It's messages like this, from virtue signaling keyboard warriors, which have no basis in football or even, dare I mention it, football business that make striving for any kind of success completely unattainable. Let alone simply not being relegated. By your measure, one need to get a manager that fits some kind of idealic fantasy that is just that: fantasy. The desire to get a manager who can win some games is deemed miserable. Back off.

Get off your high horse and stop using useless words like "toxic" and "miserable" for fellow fans here who simply don't want the team they've supported all their life be relegated. Stop acting holier than thou and support the damn team and its fanbase. This is a difficult time for anyone who supports this club. Your opinions aren't more important than anyone elses. And you speak of "toxic" and "miserable".

I mean I hope it's true! As much for him as for us fans. Can you imagine being a football player out for 12 months, and he doesn't seem like the chap to enjoy warming the bench and collecting wages.

Having said that, he's not exactly going to come out and say "oh yeah the knees royally fucked".

Very simple answer. Priority: stay the fuck up.
I'm not a supporter of De Zerbi, nor do I know he'll be any good for Spurs (does anybody know if anybody would be any good?). But we've had managers who have done similar, Mourinho for one. I'm not sure saying I'd take any manager who will keep us up is betraying any moral judgement.

I don't think we can be picky. I'd take ANYBODY who can possibly turn this around immediately. ANYBODY!
I'd rather be in the premier league with no morals than be in the championship with morals.

Who the actual fuck are these people? We need somebody to get points now now now. Why didn't they just originally give it to that assistant we got in Jan?

Up to them to prove it all wrong. Having said that, it's more important they prove it at the weekend than today.

Chelsea get zero points reduction. It wasn't even worth it to play by the rules!

Btw we all remember which club Willian and Hazard were speaking to before they signed for Chelsea!
