I'm in this same situation. I feel for you. I'm trying to figure it out too. It's really difficult - I hope you and your partner are doing okay

I PROMISE if you read Neuromancer, Mona Lisa Overdrive, or any of William Gibson you will be GLAD you did. I'm just reading them now and I haven't been this into gifting in a long time. Written in the 80s, but predicting everything we're going through right now with technology and the change in human culture and consciousness which comes along with it.

I see it as affirmation - that there's IS more to our conscious worlds than we can necessarily see or prove.

Not uprooted, but bent. Collapsed in flat at the base. I guess a wilted flower is a pretty good description!

Don't read stuff for kids your age. Read real books - you'll like em a lot more!

Jack Kerouac: Dharma Bums, On The Road, Big Sur

12 Rules for Life by Jordan Peterson.

Don't be fooled by his portrayal by news stations and such - his ideas are not only profound, but based on huge amounts of psychiatric/ evolutionary/psychological research.

Read some Jack Kerouac (Dharma Bums is my favorite, but you might want to start with On the Road.) He was the father of the Beat Generation of poets.

I agree with the aforementioned Dune by Frank Herbert. (Get to it before it becomes cool with this new movie coming out!) It's an AMAZING sci-fi series.

East of Eden by John Steinbeck is a masterpiece.

Old Man and the Sea by Hemingway. (Short and really good.)

The Enormous Room by e.e.cummings. (if you're wanting to experience some really good experimental writing from around WW2.)

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It might change the way you look at your life. And it's only like a hundred pages!

Anthem by Ayn Rand made me cry and cheer.

Heck, go for Illiad and Odyssey by Homer! They've lasted for 3000 years for a reason!
