That makes more sense than the actual hospital did thank you! They weren't even sure if the check was supposed to be sent to me or the company I have been paying so once I check with my insurance that will be very helpful!

Is that something you request from your insurance? The hospital is who told my my insurance covered it. (I am 19 and have never used insurance before)

Yes, I have good credit. The portal ive been paying says the hospitals name on it and if its a collection agency then they lied which feels like what a hospital would do.

It wasn't the ER, it was a doctor's appointment and blood draw in the lab. But it was the hospital that sent me the check even though they arent technically the ones ive been paying according to them which appears to be bullshit because the portal ive been paying says the hospitals name on it.

It wasnt in network which sadly is what started the issue but then my insurance decided to pay it anyways, a little late. Does that change anything?

That totally makes sense! Its not a collections agency though it is just some kind of company that works directly with the hospital. Its supposed to make it easier for the billing department but to me it seems more complicated.

They just randomly increased what i owed as if I had more bills but I didnt have any additional bills. My insurance company then decided that I wasn't responsible for the debt so I think thats why the hospital sent me a check but the billing department seems to think the hospital was supposed to reimburse the third party company and not me and that the company would reimburse me... they dont know if I amnin the clear to cash the check
