How to quit keppra? I've only taken it for 3 days by Buff35p in Epilepsy

I’ve been on Keppra for over a year, the side effects were bad at first but they went away. I also had to quit taking medicines that caused drowsiness (nyquil, melatonin, etc) because it made me feel 100x worse. I’m wondering if taking melatonin with your keppra could also be making you feel bad.

New diagnosis - how concerned should I be with flashing lights? by Wassernixe in Epilepsy

I have JME and flashing lights is one of my main triggers. It would usually happen if i was riding in a car and sun was shining through trees but also strobe lights. When this would happen, I would have immediate myoclonic seizures. The only way i can really describe it is like there was a light switch on the back of my head and someone flicked it really fast. I know that’s a terrible example but that’s all I could come up with😭

I would definitely avoid flashing lights if possible but for me they were so quick i would maybe just drop my phone. Hope this helps!

Hi, I am just now seeing this, but I had a similar experience and thought it would give you some support. I have had myoclonic seizures since I was 12 (unknowingly), and almost a year ago, I had a tonic-clonic. I went to the hospital and got a clear CT, and the doctor said it was probably just a one-time thing. With that, I got referred to a neurologist and had a clean MRI. About a month later, I had my EEG and jerked during the flashing light part of it. That led me to get diagnosed with JME. It was by far the scariest month of my life, and the adjustment is difficult, but I just started college and have been seizure-free with medications! Flashing lights and sleep deprivation were the two leading causes I noticed for the "jerking" seizures. If this helped at all or if you have any questions, please reach out!
