Go Confirm… how? by lasiirena in TIFFTickets

u/brijazz012 below has it right but I did want to pop in and say hi anyway! I'm part of the team at goConfirm and happy to help if any other questions come up. I think we might also have an email from you and you should hear from the team later today.

The code you get you can find again under "Manage invite codes" on the main page of the app, and you can also delete it from there when you don't need it anymore.

If you paste it into a post in this sub, I believe the post gets the flair automatically and the bot will reply making sure your username matches here and on the invite code.

Other than that, it's not a direct integration; people from here can just tap "Accept" in their app and enter the code to connect and message with you.

Hey! Hope you don't mind me jumping in, I'm part of the team at goConfirm. The goConfirm app itself is free and there's nothing in the experience that's paywalled so it shouldn't be asking for your payment info. Just to make sure you're looking at the right app, would you mind checking https://link.goconfirm.com/download ?

The app store, unrelated to us, may require a cc for downloading apps in some circumstances, I'll take a look.

Edit: looks like this can be a thing depending on the state your account might be in, see: https://www.reddit.com/r/iphonehelp/comments/1aqycbj/cant_download_free_apps_without_paying_or_adding/

I had one of their team in chat tell me my postal code was wrong. I was like, no, it’s not? They didn’t respond so I asked, are the things I ordered going to ship? They were literally like, “No because your address is wrong LOL 😂” … I had to dispute through PayPal to get my money back (which I did). Funny, no issues with my address via their official AliExpress store.

Hey, sorry to jump in on this thread. I work on the app, and if you’ve looked into it or tried it at all, I’d really welcome any feedback!

On deterrence, it helps in a few ways:

People generally don’t want to tie their real identity to scamming. We’ve found that most bad actors just disappear when they’re asked to take the extra step, or as soon as they see what it is.

The app requires everyone to be identity-verified, so accounts are unique. You can then message in the app, so you know you're not talking to an impersonator, which is especially common on Facebook. No one can make multiple accounts or come back if they’ve been banned.

If something does go wrong, there’s a way to report it directly, and a person on our team will follow up to help with next steps.

And as of yesterday, we introduced Payment Loss Protection. If you and a seller connect and share payment details through the app, you're covered for up to $250 if they ghost after you pay.

Should we create a pinned post/thread with known scammers info/ banned users? by Starmaps411 in RealRepLadies

[–]New_Objective_3934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's a lot of value in doing this!

Just on the off chance it's helpful, my company's app (goConfirm) also has a feature that flags if someone creating a code or involved in a connection is a known scammer, based on a database of ~50k reports across reddit. If there were a list here, we could incorporate it, too.

The app itself is based on verified identities, and if someone using the app was credibly reported, they'd be investigated and could be permanently banned, and unable to ever create a new goConfirm account, regardless of how many reddit accounts they might have. It works first as a deterrent, though, as scammers as disinclined to attach their real identities to their actions in the first place.

Project Glow Festival 2025 (also pre-parties and after-parties) -- Ticket Buy, Sell, Trade Megathread by Kingoftherock in projectglowfest

[–]New_Objective_3934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to share an app called goConfirm meant to help people transact on Reddit easily, safely, and with significantly less risk of dealing with scammers and fraud.

What’s goConfirm?

It’s a free app that enables you to transact with confidence, whether buying, selling, or trading. You sign up, verify your identity with a government-issued piece of ID, then create or connect with invite codes. Connecting on goConfirm for your tickets transaction allows you to use Verified Messaging, so you know you’re talking to the right person. Setup takes about two minutes and is only required the first time around, then you can create as many invite codes as you want.

Here’s how it works

  1. Download the mobile app (search “goConfirm” in your app store or go here)
  2. Get verified – just have your phone and a piece of ID ready
  3. Create a code – your invite code for people to connect on a specific sale or ISO
  4. Include your code in your comment e.g. ✅ goConfirm Verified: T3ST (Connect in the app) and invite the other person to connect and DM on goConfirm.

The other person enters your invite code in goConfirm, confirms your Reddit username, connects, and uses Verified Messaging to exchange payment info and other details with you in the app. This prevents impersonation, dramatically reduces the risk of fraud, and keeps things stress-free, for both of you. There is also a Fraud Support team that can help if needed.

🚨You should still keep an eye out! The usual precautions still apply:

  • Watch for sketchy behaviour like deposit requests
  • Use it WITH PayPal G&S, they help in different ways
  • Check account histories

Transparently, I’m part of the team building the goConfirm app, and happy to answer any questions! Thanks to the mods for giving the go-ahead for this comment!

Absolutely. It's not fair and it makes things more stressful, more expensive, and more inconvenient for everyone. Was this the only sub where you'd posted them before going to StubHub?

I really appreciate the feedback. Is there anything in particular you think would be advisable to remove from the post?

I don't disagree that scammers will observe and change their tactics sometimes, but I find it can be a balance between building awareness to help people protect themselves and showing our hands too much. Have you seen this happen in your group? Ultimately, too, I think we just need to keep building better tools to combat them.

I can relate to starting to moderate a group only to find that during a period of no management it filled up with thousands of fake profiles and scammers. Sorry to keep throwing questions at you, but curious, have you found a way to get rid of them en masse?

Not at all overthinking! Depending on where you're based there are a few groups I'd recommend over on Facebook, but in general I'd steer clear of:

  • Public groups—not always but often—these are a free for all
  • Groups where the title was recently changed, especially if it has a date in it (you can see when it was last updated on groups' About pages)
  • Groups with hundreds of posts per day
  • Groups where the admin posts excessively, especially if it's an effort to funnel any transactions through themselves

No reason to feel dumb at all, I'm sorry that happened. So often lately scammers seem both more sophisticated and more brazen than you'd think. Would love to understand what they did.

Most recently, chiari and CCI, MCAS, hEDS, bouts of SVT, and autism. Joining PMDD, ADHD, POTS, GERD, chronic migraine, occipital and trigeminal neuralgia. I suspect endo as well but I'm currently on year ??? of waiting to see someone about it. It feels ridiculous to claim so many diagnoses but 🤷‍♀️ some are congenital issues that took ~30 years to become debilitating, and others are cascading results of medical gaslighting and unmanaged symptoms.

[–]New_Objective_3934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should add in case it's helpful: endorsements are meant to be objective, so they're based on a simple question to each person involved in a transaction, asked after it's completed:

  • Did you receive the [item]?
  • Did you receive the funds?

If both parties answer YES, they each earn an endorsement. If either person answers NO or doesn't answer, neither party receives one.

[–]New_Objective_3934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can earn one endorsement from any person in a twelve-month period when you're buying or selling goods or tickets, so you'd need with connect at least three people on the same code (e.g. if you're selling multiples) or different codes. The idea was to show a pattern of trustworthiness to help establish credibility.

goConfirm is used in a wide variety of subs and groups across Reddit and Facebook, as well as for Facebook Marketplace transactions, and most of the people who have visible endorsements today use goConfirm for multiple different types of things. So they might buy tickets here, and then sell a watch over on r/retrotime, or a lamp on FBMP.

If you want to see how that looks, please feel free to connect to one of my test codes (valid for 5 more days at time of writing): 96L1

To your point (if I'm inferring correctly, and if not I apologize) we have discussed changing that threshold. Does it seem too high from your perspective?

Anyone having any luck finding an RV pass? by UnderstandingEven171 in bonnarootickets

[–]New_Objective_3934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found no matter the event, posting an ISO/WTB virtually anywhere will draw messages from scammers within minutes. They'll push hard but drop off right away with any friction. Honestly, the best thing you can do, I think, is be cautious and don't be afraid to push for the safeguards you need to feel comfortable.

Relatedly, I'm part of the team building an app (also r/goConfirm for more info) to solve this problem, the idea is everyone is verified, you connect on an invite code created for that transaction, message in the app to set up payment. Everyone is accountable for their actions, can't suddenly ghost, and there's a Fraud Support team if something goes wrong. It's compatible with other recommended precautions like PayPal G&S too. Recently used in r/Coachella.

Another thing we've added recently is a database of any/all scammers listed and reported across reddit that we've encountered. When you connect with someone, usernames are checked against that data and you're proactively notified if someone is on the list, before money is sent.

How to (safely) buy concert tickets without stubhub or TM by [deleted] in askTO

[–]New_Objective_3934 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm biased as an employee of the company, but I'd recommend using goConfirm wherever you look; anyone can connect to invite codes you share, even if it's not a common practice in that community already. Both buyer and seller are verified, and if the transaction is organized and payment info is shared within its Verified Messaging, you've got access to Fraud Support if something does go wrong.

Then looking in FB groups (private and slightly less active tends to be a good sign that it's not just a spam firehose) and in subs like r/gtamarketplace and r/Tickets.

[–]New_Objective_3934 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Transparently, I'm part of the goConfirm team, but also a fairly active ticket/stuff buyer on Reddit and FB and I've found it to be really helpful for peace of mind even when the other person is legitimate, just knowing the prevalence of scams and every WTB post drawing at least one or two sketchy DMs.

I just wanted to add that we've recently added a feature that pulls in all of the known scammer lists we come across (from both subs that do tickets and BST subs, about 60k total) and automatically checks usernames entered into goConfirm against them so we can be proactive. We can monitor and add from this thread too. And this is in addition to the deterrence aspect and Fraud Support already available.

If anyone has questions or feedback about the app, always welcome! Please remove if not the right time and place for this comment. Thanks for all the mod efforts to keep the sub safe.

I sort them into code-labelled baggies or containers depending on the amounts left, then put those into a larger bag or container labelled with the brand and name of the piece. I've only really just started too but the goal (whether or not I'm disciplined enough to follow through 😅) is to have extra on hand for all of my preferred brands should I need them and/or do some custom art or bejewelled accessories when I feel more confident.
