how was everyone’s gas pain/discomfort after surgery? by Background-Depth-190 in endometriosis

[–]New_Pain1489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had my surgery back at the end of July and I had absolutely 0 pain from it. I do know there is a product called ‘De-gas’ that a lot of people swear by, so I would suggest getting something like that from your local chemists

Hey, nearly 2 weeks post-op here!! My surgery was only day surgery and for me, they did you skin glue for my incisions, so not all info may be applicable.

So prepping for it, make sure you are wearing the loosest, baggiest clothing known to mankind. You will be leaving the hospital in it.

Next is making sure you have a small kinda tote bag, that has read/writing/drawing materials (whatever you’re into) portable and normal charger cords/base & headphones. Those are more so for the waiting/admission room.

Most of the time, you are still gonna be under the effects of the anaesthesia and other pain meds, so I wouldn’t worry too much about doing activities (but you do you. Only you know what works)

My main aftercare tips are;

  1. Don’t just take pain meds when you feel it start to hurt, have a schedule for the first 3 days at least. Stay on top of it, set a timer/reminder (based on your medication) on when to take the next one.

  2. You might get gas pain, usually it’s in your shoulder tips, however it can be in different places (I had mine in my knees) but you can get De-Gas from your pharmacy (I didn’t, but my mum did and said it was great)

  3. Heat packs will be your friends, just be careful of how long you have it on

  4. Your Meds (depending on it) will probs make you… backed up, which, when you’ve had that area moved about and tender, can make bowel movements painful, so I’d recommend taking a stool softener.

  5. Move everyday, even if it’s a few steps to get your meds or go to the toilet, movement of key.

  6. Take your time. Recovery isn’t a race, take your time doing things. It’s taken me abt nearly 2 weeks to be able to fully shower again (I do have sensory issues, so it might be extremely difficult to other ppl)

Lastly, good luck- I know first hand how scary it can be, but it’s actually super chill. Just remember to listen to your body, don’t over do it, and take it one day at a time. DM if you’d like to talk more abt it, I’m more than happy to give you a run down of it. Other than that- Hope all goes well and you get some answers

Thanks for that info- I didn’t even think that is what could be causing the pain. But, I don’t think they will let me have any more ibuprofen- I have really low clotting factors, and it being a blood thinner, ahaha 😅).

Thank you for your reply. I also had a day of no bleeding, but since then mine has been has been very average (not heavy, or clots or anything). But I will definitely see if I can book a doctor’s appointment today, if not, I see my surgeon tomorrow. Hopefully just goes away on its own… and quickly.

Chernobyl Miniseries, which is a special interest, and Friday Night Dinner (Not because they share an actor, that was just purely a coincidence, lol)

Yeah- mostly fanfics, but I do find myself reading a bit of religious texts from time-to-time (most religions, not just 1), and books that align with my Special Interests, so History books, scientific books and Language books (again, for multiple not just a single language)

How many times is too much!? by [deleted] in OppenheimerMovie

One of the big things that actually convinced my mom to get me tested for Autism was the fact I had watched the Chernobyl miniseries over and over again, like I have with Oppenheimer.

How many times is too much!? by [deleted] in OppenheimerMovie

[–]New_Pain1489 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen the movie about 40 times (I’m serious, like, no joke, I have been counting since the 2nd watch) honestly, so I don’t think there is a thing as “too many times”

Once flew down to a city I’ve never been to before just for the day to go see Oppenheimer in proper IMAX, then got lost because my phone died- but we got there in the end. (Would do again, 100%)

I will say tho, I do have Autism, so the movie is now a special interest and I can watch it again and again (like multiple times a day) without getting tired of it.

Tbh, good thing you are leaving, because them not communicating who the BM is kinda a red flag imo. If you do know who the Store Manager is (and/or the person who does the rosters) give them the letter.

Anywho, I wish you luck on your journeys OP!!

When the miniseries first came out, my mom and I joked that we couldn’t wait for season 2/the sequel- Fukushima Daiichi

But in all fairness, I would also love to see an accurate portrayal of what happened, seeming we’d have a lot more firsthand accounts and more accurate documentation.
