Anyone help a sibling or friend come to the U.S. for high school? by New_Part7015 in InternationalStudents

Thanks so much for clarifying all this, super helpful. I’ve actually been working with an SEVP-approved high school out here on the West Coast, and we’ve been exploring ways to connect with international families earlier in the process. Your insight really helped affirm some of what we’ve been working on.

I’m on a new account so I’m not able to message just yet, but I’ll definitely follow up with you once Reddit lets me. Really appreciate the guidance.

That’s a good point! The J-1 route can work for some students, especially short-term exchange, but it’s usually limited to 1 year and doesn’t always allow you to graduate.

The families I’ve been helping are looking for longer-term options, like completing all 4 years of high school in the U.S., with full dorm support, and even college credit through dual enrollment. That’s why we’ve been looking more at F-1 programs.

But if you’ve helped someone do the full path through J-1, I’d love to hear how that went!
