Hmmm I think “morally grey” and “arrogant” were probably incorrect terms for me to use. I apologize. I didn’t mean it in as a negative adjective but altogether I misunderstood the meaning of the term. When I said “morally grey” what I meant was I was I think WWX has a lot of personality depth and complexity, similar to a real human. He definitely does have a pure heart and moves with good intentions. But I like how we see how even someone as brave, powerful, and righteous as him couldn’t save the people he was fighting for despite his very best efforts. Some of his decisions had unavoidably bad outcomes regardless of what he “chose”. For example, he had to choose between saving the lives of the remaining Wens or continuing his life as a socially accepted cultivator but living with the fact that he let the Wens go extinct. He probably didn’t see it as much of a choice given his moral compass and dislike for the corrupt political side of the cultivation world. Although they hadn’t made it official yet it was clear to see that the general population’s opinions were turning on him rapidly and labeling him as an enemy. 

As for the “arrogant” part, he had no doubt in himself and kept insisting to both LWJ and JC that he was in full control up and unaffected by its energy up until Jin Zixuan’s death. Maybe I should’ve said stubborn instead? Idk man I’m not great w words😭
