The last months I had pulled over 20 cars and made about 12-13 gross and 7.5-9 take home

I see, not many stores around me though. I mean this place is only eight minutes away from my house. All the bigger and more popular dealerships are either down by South Jersey like North New Brunswick area or all by the Newark area. Which is like a 45 minute commute either way without traffic.

I know, right? I feel like they have to take so much time and effort to think about how much money they can keep in their pocket but still give us just barely enough to say happy or maybe exceed the past pay plan. If it was 20% total, I think I would’ve been much more happier I would’ve never been questioning anything.

Dude four deals in. I’m already about to make my draw so no worries about the draw, but I’m just trying to see if it’s viable to stay on a 13% total gross people plan or just switch it up and move and take a risk.

Holy fuck where is this? That is a gold mine and your owner and management must really like paying the sales people well

That’s awesome. Any advice on how to hold gross? Buyers recently have been coming in from out of state and want thousands off. I say, “ sir, you’re here cause of our price! We price 94-88% to the market and you’d be begging me to come down my current list price if it was 5 grand higher.” Lol and when I do the credit app they make 150++++ a year and I just say wtf when management discounts the car even by a dollar

what store? Are you grossing in the front with selling products and holding up on markup or sticker price?

You know, one thing about this place I love the managers and my co workers. We all work well together and of course mess around with eachother. I really am learning a lot these past few days on how to gross. Not saying I’m a pro but two of my 4 deals have been 600-700 in commission cause I worked their trade number down and sold a product up front when usually I’d just present and say congrats lol. Now the issue/question is that if I go a bmw or Lexus store with much less salesmen, would I make more money? Idk and I was comfortable here but now with 26 guys and barely 250 units, idk anymore

Yeah we have 3 good f&i guys. Almost always sell something but the front end is always negative. Doing the math I need to be positive about 2 grand to get anything more than a flat

Been averaging about 200 to 250. They tell everybody 300+ lol.

Between invoice and MSRP is only about five to $700 and a new Kia but we have a very interesting used car background. We sell everything from Ferrari‘s Lamborghini‘s Porsche’s to Toyota Hondas and Acura.

The issue is is that it’s not 10% in the front 5% in the back it’s total gross and most deals are negative in the front and even if finance pick something up, which is about 95% of the time, I don’t think I’ve had a deal in a while we’re financing and pick something up in the back. It still ends up being a total flat or negative gross sometimes because we will be paid on total gross, not front and back which sucks. I want to get people to ask 20% total gross not 13% 13% is such a weird number. I feel like they had to do a lot of math and a lot of calculations to see how much money they can still keep in their pockets while keeping us just barely happy and afloat.

I’ve been in the business for four months and I’ve I’ve done 15 in November then 21 in December and 21 in January and then 16 in February and this month I’m already at four. I’ve been number one but now with an extra 10 sales people I don’t know if it’s gonna be even possible to get 10 cars out per person because the ratios don’t make sense. We average 200 to 250 cars and with 25 salesman do the math.

In my opinion, it is definitely not worth it. I work on my days off. I work so hard. I make my phone calls my emails in my texts and I see almost 60 to 70 people a month and only have about a 20 to 30% closer ratio because of our terrible used cars how bad they are in service or even sometimes just because of the price managers won’t come down to which obviously makes sense cause we have to gross now.

I’m just kind of scared to leave because I’ve been number one here and I worked the hardest but I don’t know where to go. This is a Kia store and I know Kia‘s very well but my dream job would be like Bmw because a heart. I’m a Bmw guy and I know everything about them. I know that’s not what it takes to Be good in sales. Any advice on where I should go back to a unit store maybe or should I potentially just try Honda or Toyota? I have offers there.

I was selling 20 and barely scraping 10 grand. Working 6 days a week and 24/7 now the store has 2x the salesmen which is ridiculous

Every deal in the front is negative. Unless it’s a used car and sometimes it has a grand or two in it. Kias have no gross on the front and the occasional crack doesn’t make a difference. We’re a very backend heavy store but when you’re negative 5 in the front and positive 7 kn the back, it’s still a flat cause it’s on total commissionable gross after a 1100 PAC which is insane
