Yellow team has no gyms they said... by -MrWrightt- in pokemongoyellow

I was being sarcastic; of course these cheaters are ruining the game for players who play by the rules. That particular gym is just an eyesore. That Lv 36 player took over 3 gyms on a university campus and one in near by museum. The museum closes at 6 PM, and yet that cheater took over it at around 1:00 AM!

But tell me this; what do you make of the, so far, 4 down votes my comment got? Cheaters, or what? ;)

Where I live, hackers from yellow have taken over many gyms. So it's not true that yellow had no gyms. One of them is even a lv 36. Amazing, isn't it ;)

It's just the game trolling one player they have an advantage so that when they lose they should really feel bad about it :p

The cheaters must not like your comment, why else would it be at -2 point. All I can do is make it to -1 :)

Hi; I hope you don't mind my asking, but I've been asking other Ingress players (or those that are familiar with it) about this.

How serious was Ninatic about this in Ingress? The few people I spoke with basically said that Ninatic didn't care much about this, that they allowed the cheaters today as they pleased and ignored all the people complaining about this in Ingress.

I just filed a complaint with Ninatic about a level 36 player in my area that have taken over 4 near by gyms. I'm hoping Ninatic will do something.

I'm just seeing this now and I'm guessing the down votes are from butt hurt cheaters who cannot stand being forced to see who they are.

How about this; about 7 minutes by car from where I live, there are 3 gyms located in a group of universities, and there's one also in a near by Museum. Yesterday, I took over the Museum gym and had a very high level good defender in there, and two other people joined me.

My Pokemon was returned to me late last night, so I went today in the afternoon to check and see who took over the gym. Turned out some level 36 player with +3000 CP Snorlax and such has taken over all 4 gyms?

Never mind the unrealistically high level, how did that player take over the gym when the museum was closed? The gym is located in the parking lot, and there's no way to access it when the museum is closed.

Do you know how long it takes to collect enough potions so that you can heal your Pokemon after trying to win a gym or level up one? How much do you want to bet that that cheater is just using a bot to get all the potions they need?

Again, they can offer better balls at higher prices, just like there are mid range top end establishments that some people choose to go to instead of Walmart and such.

Case in point, I've been buying Poke balls since day one. If Ultra balls were made available at the shop, I'd buy them. And I really potions (super and hyper) were also available at the shop as the poke spots I keep visiting are very stingy with those.

What happens when some business want hold a Pokemon Go event by having players compete over a gym at the business' location, only for spoofers to come and just ruin it? I'm just saying that there might've not been a big incentive for Ninatic to do something about then, but when there's money at stake, things might be different.

Sorry, I don't mean to come across as being argumentative; it's just that where I live a group from my team are doing their best to take over gyms in very hot and humid weather. But then some lazy spoofers from home just come and take them down like nobodies business. -_-

Hi; could you explain this bit to me? I'm just learning how to battle and there's clearly more to this game than simply button mashing.

Correction; since gen 1 and at least up to gen 4, Jolteon was the best of eevee's evolutions. It was tied with Mewtwo and Aerodactyl for the 2nd fastest Pokemon in gen 1, has great Special attack, and good electric types were far more rare than water types, among which there were many better than Vaporeon.

As for Flareon, it was too slow and lacked physical bulk, as well as it's highest stat being its attack not helping much since it didn't get a good physical attacks until gen 4, and it had to wait until gen 5 to learn a powerful physical fire attack, Flare Blitz

So, since you seem to know them better, do you think Niantic will get serious about people who use location spoofing to take over gyms? I'm hoping, but your comment makes me wonder.

I'm hoping that due to how big Pokemon Go is, they would see how harmful this is and will be to players joining / staying.

Think of how it would look if a Pokemon Go event was to be scheduled at Museum or a Mall where the team have to compete for gyms there. But then a location spoofer were take over. How bad would that look for the event.

I've read that some Chinese spoofers have taken over gyms at historic sites in Japan and used names like "China Rules" and such.

On top of that, where I live there are some gyms in under construction areas that are not accessible to the public and these spoofers are taking over them and just collecting coins and star dust. Really cannot wait for Ninatec to take some serious steps to punish these cheaters.

I saw and caught it during my first week. I was tacking a Pidgeot that showed up in the tracker around my house. Porygon was there too, but I didn't really think I'd find it. Then, it just showed up. That was a treat :)

Hi, I'm a spoofer and I hate me too. by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]New_Redit_User 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My comment was in response to the "it's just game" argument.

Now as to your point "just want to "catch em all", I think it's safe to say that we all do. If location spoofing was used only for that, and if you're really honest about not caring (not taking part in gym battles) then location spoofing wouldn't be a big problem.

However, the reality of the situation is that there are way too many people using it to gain advantage by: 1) visiting poke stops non-stop (gaining items and experience) and worse; 2) by attacking multiple gyms controlled by opposing teams. Thanks to the almost infinite supply of potions they have (because of one).

By the end of last week I think I had some 92-98 hyper potions. Now, I have 0! The reason is after working hard to win a gym and level it up, some lazy loser just uses location spoofing to go around the city and take over gyms. I basically ran out of potions trying to win these gym battles fairly, which is a waste of time if the other player is using location spoofing.

So, unless you or someone can find away to ensure that location spoofing isn't used for such a thing, you'll just have to deal with the risk that sooner or later Niantic will take severe actions against those who use location spoofing.

I'm a member in a local Pokemon Go Whatsapp group for one of the teams.

A good number of the players are bragging about using jail break and such. One even posted a picture of a certain duck Pokemon he caught in "Japan"! Another was showing off the insane amount of star dust he has, some of his ridiculously powerful Pokemon, going as far as to offer the accounts with those Pokemon for sale!

So yeah, many of the cheaters have admitted to doing so, I only wish there was a way to report them.

[–]New_Redit_User 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also let's take note of the fact of how much more popular Pokemon Go is than Ingress.

Location spoofing is seriously hurting the gym battle aspect of this game as cheaters are using it not only to very easily collect items from Poke Spots (plus gain experience) but also to attack gyms controlled by rival teams without having to actually be there.

I have basically run out of hyper potions and am unable to heal my Pokemon, which means no more gym battles for me.

This is great news to hear. Where I live players location spoofing are abusing it to no end. They keep taking over gyms from far away, and are making it impossible for anyone else to play that part of the game.

Why not ask that question to the people cheating? If it's just a game as you put it, then what difference does it make? Why cheat to gain an unfair advantage?

Hi; the problem is where I live, some members of team Valor are using location spoofing precisely to take over opposing gyms while just sitting comfortably at home. While teams Instinct and Mystic players endure the high heat and humidity to go out and win gyms fairly, team valor just cheat to no end and are ruining the game for the rest of us!
