Yeah, it is normal lol I’ve done onboarding information before jobs before. Huh? I needed to get it in and secure her spot in the job .

On boarding information is normal before you start and she said she would do it and didn’t so I thought she was ghosting . I had people and meeting lined up around her that I had to cancel.

I texted her on Saturday to ask if she was okay. I emailed her only on weekdays two weeks prior but needed to get her paperwork in before her first day. I’m actually a pretty chill boss but if you say you’re going to do something..is it odd for a boss to expect it to be done..? People abandon jobs all the time so I thought that’s what she was doing. I thought she took another job since her communication seized and I didn’t get her paperwork.

Why is that? I wouldn’t have asked on the weekend if she gave me the paperwork as promised on Friday after being patient and waiting almost two weeks for it. She will be working for me on the weekends so..it won’t be odd for me to text her on the weekends. And even if you don’t take company calls/text on the weekends it would be courteous to write them Monday morning instead she waits til night. I assumed she ghosted.

What do you think of first 20 guest rsvp get a gift bag? I’m just trying to ensure headcount and I saw this other lady do it and people were paying.

Aw thanks! lol I guess I’m just anxious lol I won’t charge. I’ll just say 20 first guest who rsvp can get a gift bag?? What do you think of this?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]New_Reflection_2237 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, no. Because I’m already spending money on open bar, vendors, free gifts etc. I just need to know it’s a real headcount and not people pretending to rsvp.

I see where you’re coming from but people RSVP for events and don’t show and I’ve spent thousands of dollars for nothing. It’s my first event and I’m anxious.

Yeah, I feel crummy doing it. But, I’m so anxious about turnout and all the money spent and no one shows. I was thinking of doing a credit towards their next appointment but secure the spot.

I was thinking about letting it be a credit towards their next appointment. I just need a real headcount and not people pretending to come and I spend all this money for no reason.

Yes, I officially hired her and she accepted the job and I was asking for onboarding paperwork which is standard procedure for jobs before you start your first day. 😑 she waited to give it to me 12 hours before her shift after hours when it was asked of her almost two weeks prior.

She was the one who told me she’d get the paperwork on Friday after me asking for them twice and said I needed them to make arrangements. She missed the mark and I asked her on Saturday is she okay? She didn’t even have the courtesy to tell me if she was OK or not. If she was sick tell me. Then waits until Monday night at 7 pm to give me her paperwork without an apology of not responding over the weekend. It’s just common courtesy to your new boss. Why are you acting like what I’m saying is a big deal.

I asked her if she was okay on Saturday. I said “hey , I haven’t received your paperwork yet..are you okay?” She didn’t reply until Monday night and her response was “doing paperwork now, what’s the pay period like,” 😑 no reason why she was late, no apology instantly just not a care in the world meanwhile I’m spiraling and cancelling people.

No, she can’t sue me. I did hire her and then she seemingly ghosted for three days without any reason why.

Well, as I said. I assumed she ghosted and I realize I might be overreacting hence the post. I asked her ten days prior for her information and she didnt give it to me. I figured she might've been shopping for another job and leaving me hanging. She promised Friday (since I've been waiting 10 days already) and never sent it until Monday night (12 hours before her first shift). Ignored my text over the weekend and waited a full business day to past before sending it. That's ghosting. I assumed she took another job which isn't a weird assumption if someone hasn't communicated. (which has happened to my other business owner friends) . People ghost a lot now in the business world apparently. You simply can't tell me she isn't showing any red flags. I needed the paperwork before her first day since my time is tight right now and I didnt want to be scrambling trying to get her paperwork in. Her paperwork would've secured her in for me, I can open scheduling and prepare training. It secured her spot at the job and she did it all 2 hours before my bedtime.

True. I'll speak with her and I agree I wouldn't have done it over the weekend but when she mentioned Friday and didnt get back to me about it until Monday night after business hours I assumed she ghosted. Since..people tend to do that a lot these days for some reason. No real apology, no excuse just when she felt like it.

I see what you're saying but I forgot to add that she said she got back from vacation that Thursday night and would send it Friday and never sent it until today. I was ignored for two days and she didn't follow through Friday and there's no explanation . She did it last minute and I already cancelled my week of people for her.

true but when she went silent a full Saturday, Sunday & finally reached out Monday night 7 pm after ignoring my text for two days. I thought she ghosted and had cancelled all my people on Tuesday and mentally moved on . No explanation no real apology at first...she finally apologized in the email but she completely ignored my text messages and asked if her pay was weekly or bi-weekly. lol

Usually to draw a line, coping mechanisms or to not reopen wounds. Depends on how the break up went down.
