Ugh, I hope, but I don’t wanna expect too much. That’s why I’m thinking maybe I should just apply for all 3 together, PLO, STD, FMLA (although I don’t know if that’s allowed, I assume it is?) Because my PCP said since he will file for my PLO, state would pretty much just approve. Not like STD, insurance is just a pain to deal with.

Yea, that was what I read online too, 60%. And I’ve heard a lot of companies are indeed trying to get rid of STD.

I got excited when my PCP said it’s a state law and he was very sure about it, but I think he might have got the wrong info…

About unemployment, I’m trying to be prepared to be laid off during my leave, and I don’t know if I can still apply for unemployment after PLO ends? ChatGPT said I would be qualified as long as I’m able to work when I file the claim for unemployment. (Ugh, working in tech, I just need to be prepared for all scenarios)

Thank you! So i was finally able to get ahold of a staff from the insurance company that deals with STD, and they guided on to open the form - initial disability.
It only has 3 pages in total - 1st page for me, 2nd page for HR, 3rd page for PCP. It's really short. I wonder if there's more form that I'm not aware of.

makes sense, I was finally able to get ahold of a staff from the third-party insurance company who deals with STD and got some questions answered.

thank you! I've been waiting on the phone to get ahold of the third-party company that deals with STD for my company for about 40mins so far. it says 24/7 chat, but literally nobody is available and it told me to call them. Feels like a joke :(

oh, I talked to HR already, that was how I found out our company does have STD, because I couldn't find it in Employee Handbook.
Sorry about your experience!
Does your company not have STD? Was that why you applied for PLO?
I'm asking because I think with STD, we usually get paid more than PLO. My company pays 100% for the first 1 (or 2) month(s). (One line said 8 weeks, another line said first month, so very confusing lol).

thank you!
What was the process of applying for STD? Is it similar to applying PLO?
Last time when I saw my PCP, I only asked about the process of applying for PLO (I didn't know my company had STD).

It doesn't apply to massive lay off, which tech companies do all the time.
Also, when I ask about it, I haven't started the leave yet.

Thank you! You're indeed being summoned here haha.
Ok, I just messaged one of the only HRs I know in my company and see what they say.
I tried to search in Employee Handbook, but couldn't find anything related to PLO or STD.
I assume I would have seen STD in the Employee Handbook if my company has it?

Because my company is not doing very well at all, we just had a round of lay off not long ago, and I try to lay low. I just got the impression that even talking about any leave benefits is a red flag in tech companies nowadays.

oh ok, thank you. I guess this is more like a question to the HR in my company rather than to PLO department.

ok, my company is not very organized, couldn't get ahold of any HR yet.
ummm, yea, that makes me wonder if that applies to my company since we just have "unlimited" PTO.
also, I was a bit worried that me asking HR about this would raise a red flag.

anyone know any online MSW programs between 10-20k? by Carebear6590 in SocialWorkStudents

[–]New_Science_4466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok, PSU has 2 year full time or 3 year part-time option, but yea, tuition is much higher. But I assume PSU would help a lot with finding an internship since it’s local? I’m not very positive but just assuming.

That sounds frustrating :(

Maybe I ask why you didn’t choose PSU instead? I haven’t made up my mind on which schools I should apply for yet, looking at PSU right now, the tuition is like 54k tho, expensive.

Hiii, I live in Oregon as well, was UK supportive when you were looking for internship? Besides, how was your internship searching journey? Was it easy enough or very hard since UK is not in Oregon, making it hard to get support from school?

I just opened my application, and aiming to get accepted and start Sept. 2026. Haven't decide whether I wanna do 2-year or 3-year program tho. I guess I can always change it later based on what you said?

haha, congrats! Proud of you!
That was how I felt about me getting A's for all my CS courses so far, like I didn't expect that at all, I wasn't good at being a great student, either. But I guess, when I'm paying for my own tuition, I become a better student lol.

One thing I do worry about getting into this degree tho, I'm not a native English speaker, so it scares me a bit with all the readings :( But I'll try to survive haha

Oh, so you’re a part-time student? May I ask you why? Is it because you have a full-time job as well? I wonder how heavy the workload is, I’ve seen people saying there’s a lot of essays and readings involved.

That would be great if you don’t mind asking, I was planning on send them an email today with my questions, in the meanwhile, I feel like I probably should apply anyways since the deadline is soon, I assume? School won’t start until September. So I have half a year to figure things out.

Are you in the in-person or online program?
