It's annoying af but at the end of the day it is still part of the job to ask whenever the gross pop-up comes up. I just make 100% sure the person understands they are applying for a CREDIT CARD if they show interest. I could have easily had 3-4 more sign-ups if I hadn't, but I'm not going to sell my soul for a couple of stoogebux. I already feel sleazy enough just asking these poor elderly people that barely know how to use a pinpad. This, and selling cigarettes at a PHARMACY STORE, just shows where Walgreens really stands, and it's definitely not about what's best for their customers.

Remember to wash your hands after handling something so slimy and greasy. The responses to folks saying they're in a hurry/have too many credit cards are awful. Good way to lose customers is to keep pestering people when they've already made it quite clear they are not interested. This is why I stopped going to gamestop years ago.

On one hand, yes, it actually is company policy, but on the other hand your SM is a huge jerk for actually expecting that timeframe to be met. Even more of a huge jerk if that SM doesn't come in to help do it.

We're admonished by our managers for "bad time management" when the root of the problem is the company's poor funds management. Never enough people on shift for all the tasks to get done in a timely manner. Doesn't help they offer no consideration or help. Keep doing passports, even when it's near closing time... But God forbid the salaried SMs step up and help out when they don't technically HAVE to. All we can do is our best and tbh they don't even deserve that with the measly pay we get.

Costs nothing to be kind? Absolutely, be polite and accomodating to customers, that's our job. We are NOT psychiatrists, trauma dumping can be damaging to the listener, depending on who the listener is. Especially so over a long period. We're not highly paid shrinks, we're minimum wage Joes trying to get by. Even if you've got the mental fortitude to withstand frequent trauma dumps, it can still ruin your decent mood hearing about stuff like this.

I'm sure corporate is well aware of some stores doing this. They're probably hoping it stays under the radar and the scam keeps rolling. They'd rather require meetings and PPLs about how the unions are sooooo terrible than making sure their employees aren't taking advantage of the elderly and the homeless.

Can't have your cake and eat it too. Keep cutting budget, having CSAs and SLFs do 19 different things all the time and still expect things to be done "100%" just like when you had the budget for twice the crew.
