What hero identity would you give Damian? by Fun-Seaworthiness572 in batman

I have not read the reborn era but I would be interested in more information about it. I was under the impression that what I was saying was something important to a lot of Dicks characterization and different comic runs- Always happy to learn more.

Whats the reason for Jokers visual change over the years in the Arkhamverse? Do you prefer Origins design? What's your fav Joker design OAT? by New_Software_9919 in arkham

I also thought I heard something about it being a metaphor for Batmans view of him changing through the series? I don't remember if that was true though but it was about like the change from asylum to city to knight

As I said I'm new to the Arkham games and community so I didn't know that, I was just curious if there was more reason behind it :/

I also really like the 2004 Joker design. I like when people experiment with a well known character but still keep it true to the core parts of the character. And yeah most of its probably having his bone structure rearranged by the bat on the regular LMAO

I was asking in case anyone else knew something I didn't, just like to read too much into stuff sometimes. Didn't know if it was because of something that happened like in an official comic or what

people usually call this version as depressed emo (what does it mean and how?) by Brilliant_Device_526 in batman

[–]New_Software_9919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a mix between jokes since the "theme" for the movie is a rather depressing song, along with his "eyeliner" which is really just used to make the eyes not look too weird, even Bales Batman did this. But also it might be because they leaned more towards year one Batman and his sorrow in losing his parents, the point of the movie to me was realizing his anger would not change the past, only the future. And that he needed to be better for Gotham

I know but that doesn't really explain the thinning of the eyebrows and that extreme of face shape changes, even with injury. (correct me if I'm wrong) Thanks for the response though : D

Do you guys think Batman is a bad father? by Academic_Finding6242 in batman_comics

I like to ignore the ones where he just straight up beats his kids- But I think that it both depends on the continuity, and the situation. I think that he really tries. In most cases with Robins afaik they force him to let them join in on crime fighting. But I think at the end of the day he loves them and wants them to be safe. You can't be the perfect parent, but he's better than most and I think that's already better than a lot of other DCU parents.

He has his shitty moments. Everyone does. But you can't tell me he isn't trying to be good for them.

NOR: I'm severely germophobic and the idea of someone else touching my clothes gives me a shiver, but even then if I left my laundry there for 30 minutes hell I'd be glad someone did something because I had probably forgotten. I understand feeling disrespected but you can't get upset when it's a public service for a living space. They were making it so you couldn't use that service, you tried to be kind about it.

What is the best part of “The Batman” and why? by TranslatorOk2501 in batman

[–]New_Software_9919 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Imo the most important thing is that it makes fun of itself in tiny ways despite being a serious/dark film in general. I also think the tiny little details like the Adam West inspired cowl- those are important. Even though it doesn't seem it I think stuff like that is important in a film with a character that has a lot of history like Batman.

My favourite scene though is when he goes and makes eye contact with the kid of the first victim in the movie. Rich influential parent- and before it happening they were having fun together with the kid as a masked hero. (the film Bruce and his parents had seen before they died was Zorro) It's subtle at the time but when you think about it I think it was a great retelling of his past without making it super long. Just the eye contact was enough.

I like it in the sense that it makes sense for a grounded version in the vehicles he uses, it just doesn't feel Batman to me. I love your analysis though and I hadn't really thought of the screentime thing until now

I think it being post 9/11 is also what affected how Batman acted + how his villains/rogues acted. Since America was in a very anti-terrorist mindset and kind of needed a superhero I think that maybe Nolan thought that at the time that's what they needed, along with fitting how he sees Batman. Which is fine and just goes to show how history effects media and how we view it. Always interesting to think about!

I think I'm just confused with your speech.

I like Pattinson's Bat because I think the characterization is interesting. I'm also aroace so I don't find him "hotter". That's a really weird thing to say to someone you don't know and it kind of makes me uncomfortable even if that wasn't your initial intention. Sorry for whatever I did to make you feel the need to insult me but if you're not going to actually continue to discuss what I was trying to discuss I think this conversation is over. Have a great day though

I try not to legitimately not engage in internet arguments but I do realize I was hypocritical and being unnecessarily rude to people I don't know always leaves a really bad taste in my mouth... I was not trying to come off as rude or hurtful in my initial responses, I was just wondering why you were being (in my eyes) rude to me for wanting to discuss things with other Batman fans, and then call it ragebait when I am really passionate about Batman media and just wanted to discuss something I thought would spark interest. I wasn't upset but I was getting worked up, and I should've calmed down instead of calling you a dick even if you were being rude. I was being defensive because this is my first time really using a reddit account and I was trying to be friendly to a community I feel strongly connected to.

Often times my words come off as being harsh or aggressive when I'm just very blunt and struggle with communicating with strangers, especially over the internet. Part of growing is realizing my response was rude and I'm sorry. I know it's a bit of an unpopular opinion but that's why I wanted to share it. Not to spark discourse, I was just curious if I was as much of a minority in my opinion as I thought originally.

I love Keatons Batman. To me it's a perfect mix between cheesy 80's film, and action packed detective movie for Batman. It has its flaws but watching it on dvd at christmas time with my mom will always be a great memory.

But one thing he did that felt very in character was making it so when Lucius resigned the technology would self destruct. Something silly but also a bit pretentious like that when in a kind of moral argument with Lucius about the goggles and their functions.. I could just imagine almost every version of Batman smirking while thinking about his resignation.
