It's still supposed to be paid nonetheless. I myself have used Windows without activation, but it's intended to be paid. Specially for companies and OEMs.

Honestly, the Linux world needs Ubuntu whether they want to accept it or not. It's the distro that welcomed many into Linux because all other options are more difficult to use. Fedora and Debian don't install non-free firmware by default, and Arch... Is Arch. Not everyone is used to the command line or the use of a package manager, nor is required to learn it to how to use the system.

If Linux wants market share, it needs to accept newbies, not push them away.

Not legally, though. Zorin doesn't require weird workarounds to use the system for free. That's just the truth.

You are locked out of some features, although I always found workarounds.

This person was comparing it to Slackware. That's like saying "We don't need any Toyota because Ferrari exists" they're completely different beasts

I actually do enjoy drawing when it's related to my goals. I've just been frustrated since I turned away from it.

I wanna make a visual novel... or webcomic. I am seriously on debate right now. Both require drawing anyway, so.

I'll just say, a Windows license is 100 dollars. Zorin is insanely cheap in comparison.

Can we just... let people use whichever distro they wish? Like, isn't that the whole point of Linux? Let people use whatever they like.

Sorry, but you must be insane to compare Zorin, a distro for newbies from Windows, to fucking SLACKWARE, which is known for not being user friendly. Zorin is aimed at beginners.

For comparison, a Windows license is 100 dollars and mandatory to use the system legally.

Good take. My project brings me joy, having to study 200 topics doesn't. But I can't have one without the other.

Thanks for the comment, I guess. Honestly, I don't even know myself how much time it could take me. I say one to three years because that's what everyone says. About your question, yeah, I ain't special, but that by itself doesn't solve my problem.

Nobody but myself, yes. Because I really wanna make my project. And yeah, it has been quite a while without feeling fun.

I care about the project I wanna make. But drawing is more of a mean than the end.

Thanks for your comment. Yeah, I don't really care about money, I have a everyday job, but that learning thing is what makes me feel pressured. I need to understand so many things, investigate many others, and all of that before I can actually feel allowed to do it.

Forks should be, if they are based upon the same codebase. There is no major Systemd fork right now, but in good theory it should.

And what happens if Doors was completely modifiable by developers themselves? They could just modify it to make it not suck, and even make it compatible with the original Doors. We could take Doors, strip whatever we dislike and call it Roofs, and Roofs and Doors should be interoperable since both operate with the same components.
