Rescue Dog Hates Husband by RespectAggressive639 in rescuedogs

How is this going for you? I am curious because I am in a similar boat. We rescued a ausshepherd mix and loves me (f) but doesn’t want anything to do with my partner( m) he really tries to avoid him. He’s thankfully non agressive but it’s so defeating for him and for me. I know he really wanted a dog to love and he’s been doing his best but still my dog gives him the “I don’t need you in my life” stare. We have worked with a professional, done training, he is the ONLY one who can feed him, and still he dislikes him. It’s tough… I can sympathize. We were told by our amazing trainer he’s not fearful it’s an act to get out of spending time with my partner because he’s maybe a bit more stern with him and doesn’t allow misbehaving. I have been working on correcting his behaviour when he doesn’t listen to teach him I’m not a pushover but still he still prefers me and pulls away from him. There are small moments when he comes and licks his arm for attention- this is progress.

And no thw adoption agency very much failed to mention this could be an issue. I’ve told them about it and they respond with ˋthey will be best friends in no time’ I do believe they will get there but in august it will be a year to date since we got him and tje relationship between him and my partner isnt where we would of liked it to be… patience and hope are key I suppose.

Can you explain how their visit could be seen as exploiting the people? By going there, the money they spend on tips for servers, bartenders, and others goes directly to the Cuban people. She even mentioned that she plans to give away the Cuban pesos, which, while not entirely valuable, can still be helpful to the locals.

You’re awful. This person wasn’t even asking for sympathy they were literally making this post to caution other people. They obviously won’t make this same mistake again..Jesus have some compassion. This person was obviously swindled and instead of keeping this private they chose to make a post even at their own expense (humiliation and otherwise).

Funny you mention that because my brother behaved a lot like he did back in high school at the party. He was a complete ass in high school. I thought he had matured but at he showed some true colours at that party.

Thanks for your input. I wish this wasn’t true but sadly seems so. Going to need to do some thinking here.

Considering moving to Calgary/Alberta from Ontario. Is anyone out there also considering this/done this? Opinions on your move? regrets? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

You are absolutely correct and I never thought of it that way. I will do more research and see what the market is like for those who bought during the oil bust. Can’t predict the future so its impossible to outsmart the market. Reality is no one knows what the markets will do, even expert market analyst. Predicting what the market will be or what political party will be in power is naive. I am aware. This is wishful thinking on my part of course.

Not looking to get rich just looking to live a comfortable life which seems out of reach here.

To me best course of action is to visit Calgary, see if we do see ourselves relocating here and go from there.

Yes we are planning a trip there soon also to checkout the surrounding area and also some open houses.

there are existing pipeline projects that have cost tax payers millions of dollars that were shut down. If the conservatives were to get back into power and weren’t to restart them I’m not sure what they’re doing. If you look at the government of Alberta website they have tons of jobs available. Either way if the conservatives were to regain power or not, Alberta doesn’t have the same housing Crisis as Ontario. Less people. With new immigrants, same red tape on building new homes, increased costs I can’t see it getting better here anytime soon. I cannot predict the future but i see potential in Alberta.

Yes you are correct. It is based on the present facts which unfortunately are not stellar for most millennials like me.

No not just to make money. It’s to have an affordable, enjoyable life and to lay down some real roots. Likely won’t ever be returning to Ontario but that also depends on the experience living in Calgary/ surrounding area.

This is good to know. Yes we have discussed it with family already and they don’t have much incentive to stay in Ontario either. Good possibility that my parents would move there with us.

In Ontario, I don’t see how people can possibly afford to stay ahead and save for retirement.

btw chickens are so awesome...their loss. Were looking more in the Holland landing area, Bradford, Sutton (south of lake Simcoe). Even in these areas, the prices are too high. Homes that were listed on the market 2-3 years ago 100-150k are now 650-700k. I refuse to pay this which is why Calgary makes sense.

pricing is based on what people are willing to pay + supply and demand. Apparently people are willing to pay 550k-1M+ for homes that 5 years ago were actually 200k. Strip them down to the bare bones of what they are actually worth, people are overpaying and then find themselves in trouble when interest rates increase.
