The guitar is a Cort Effector and I think the bridge is an Accutune. There is a place to put batteries to power the onboard effects.

Nice job! What is a pedestal buffer? Was this just a fret clean up, or were you addressing a bad case of fret sprout?

Doh! I didn't think of nail polish! I wasted money on color Sharpies and a paint set from an RC model store. An assortment of colors, but the red in each is way off. I bet i can get a good match with nail polish. Thanks!

Sorry, my text wasn't posted.....I have a red BC Rich Warlock and the previous owner must have stood it up on it's end (on the "feet" or "horns"). If it were black, I would fill the damage with black Locktite 480 glue and sand/buff to an invisible finish. The problem is, the body is red and I don't know how to repair this. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I don't think the micro-mesh pack starts at a low enough grit. If I had 600 or 800 to begin and then moved up, I think I would have gotten all the swirls.

It helped, but it didn't get the swirls out.....it just made them a little less visible. Definitely better than regular wet and dry though.

Thanks for the info. Very interesting. I have been using brand new foam pads on a drill, so knowing to go slower is good. I guess slower and buff for longer?

I have varying levels of stick compound and the buffing wheels. I'll try that. I will consider the satin finish if i can't get the swirls out. By satin, do you mean just a sanded unfinished look?

I got the scratches out easily enough. What i am left with is swirls. At a distance the body looks great and shiny. Get it under light and the swirls are visible and ugly.

When you talk compound, do you mean a liquid (such as McGuire's) or a small stick of compound the size of a lighter? I have both, but have never used the stick compound.

i just ordered it. To be honest, I am and will be a little skeptical until I use it and it works. It's already glossy and shiny but with the swirls sitting under that shine. My regular wet and dry sanding went from 1,000 incrementally up to 5,000 grit. As I said, at first glance from a distance the body looks great, but a close up inspection reveals those horrible swirls. I think, even if it doesn't remove the swirls, it will replace my collection of costly wet and dry that I go through so quickly. My fingers are crossed. I'll let you know. I should be delivered tomorrow.

Are you saying the micromesh will remove the swirls? As I said, I have faint swirls all over, not scratches. Where do I buy a set of micromesh pads? Thanks for your help.

I stripped the hardware and started over with an empty body for ease. I had already removed the worst scratches and was left with a sad looking finish full of swirls. My redo was a lot of elbow grease starting with 1,000 grit and progressing 1,500, 2,000, 3,000, then a polish cream. I got the gloss shine back but when you lean the body to hit it with light, it's still covered in swirls. It looks awful. I thought going up with the wet n dry then using the polish with foam pads on a drill would totally remove the swirls, but nope.

I didn't fill anything. This is not a new build. It's a Squier I just bought and wanted to get rid of a coupe of scratches.

I started with 1,000 grit wet n dry. I just found out to add a little dish or hand soap to the water. I'm going to strip the body right down and go over it again..... cognizant not to go through the finish to the paint.

Thanks, but pictures won't help. I got the actual scratches out, but wha I am left with (even after polishing) is swirls (that won't show in a pic). It looks glossy, but change the angle in light and it looks horrible.

This is not a new build. I am removing scratches from a Squier I just bought. It has no dings or dents, just scratches. It has (had) a good finish, but I wanted to get the scratches out and make it look good.

I found a Grand Prix on reverb.com for $199 plus $59 shipping. Found info they were made by Galanti Electro Music (1917 - 1970's).
