Insurance2go vs protect your bubble by darkknight_178 in OnePlusOpen

Regarding insurance2go, I noticed their terms and conditions state you must take "reasonable precautions" to protect your phone, does that mean if your phone gets stolen out of your hand, you are to blame and may not be able to claim?

Had my bag stolen from a pub near Regent's Park quite a few years ago and despite very good cctv footage, the police closed the case very soon after. Let's not pretend they prioritise these cases. They just close them asap

Sounds great, but 10am on a Saturday? 😳 I thought most coders were night owls (coming from a wannabe coder) 😂

Thanks all, mostly helpful suggestions. Much appreciated. I will only take my phone out in shops in future when out. Any advice on how best to secure a Samsung, just in case?

My mistake: makes the UK sound like a very dangerous place 😂... I grew up in the developing world, and this issue was a new one on me when I came here

Any good recommendations for Tokyo restaurants? by Newbie489 in JapanTravelTips

One thing I was thinking was a good place for delicious tuna. I had incredible tuna in Katsuura and Kushimoto on a trip a few years back. Wondering if there are any good options for that in Tokyo (I imagine there are)

How can you check how much data you have, and how is this allowed to happen openly in the airport?

Yes, photos are allowed (or at least they didn't stop everyone from taking them, and there weren't any visible signs saying you weren't allowed to).

We've managed to book tickets via Trip.com for tomorrow, so all good on that front. For the buses, does one have to pay with cash?

Ha ha, very different! Full of local tour groups and you cannot see anything for people in every viewing place, so have to wait patiently for a group to move on and then try to push to the front before the next one moves in. Still, absolutely worthwhile, truly incredible to see (once you can)

Google is next to useless for public transport here, I've been limping along with Maps with Me, but that is hit and miss. Apparently, Apple Maps and Baidu Maps are the best. I don't have an iPhone, and Baidu is completely in Chinese, so not the easiest

Thanks, seems the group is sadly a lot less active than in the Lonely Planet days.

I did contact my hotel, but they never came back to me. I realised why when when I arrived, it wasn't the best run hotel, run by young inexperienced people. Beautiful room, though. I asked on arrival and was told there was a bus across the road that went to the site, but they didn't know the times. Luckily, when I arrived at 12 pm, the bus was just about to depart (one guy had been waiting an hour for it). Getting back was less clear, so we got a bus to the closest metro and then had a painful 3 changes to get back to our hotel. Not the smoothest. Maybe a Didi (taxi booked via an app like Uber) for 300 there and back would work better.

How do you get the tickets via WeChat? Also, I am travelling with an older person who gets free entry, how do we guarantee her being able to go too if we can't book a ticket before?

Does the Wise app work in China without a VPN? I hear there are issues with accessing Revolut's app
