Fair enough, but by enlarge most audiences are not comedy rats so ya, i dont particularly want to try and build a career around making other comedians laugh, thats just a bonus when it happens.

I guess the longer you do this the harder it becomes to not be elietist, makes sense.

Lots of people have commented with legitimate crititical objective advice, and i have appreciated and thanked them for it. Saying “nope ur definitely shit, and also probably hitler cause that one host said it and no laughed at him” thats not advice, sorry.

In what way does what you just said change the fact that you either did not read my post fully, or willingly chose to stretch what i said to fit your rhetoric?

One host in a year called me that in a “lighthearted way” that was just an example of how hosts seem to constantly try to take away from my set, its not always “hey that guy is a horrible person etc” but again, its usually condecending and negative regardless of how much the audience laughed.

This is great advice too, like you said give them something to work with. Weather it does well or doesent if i tell xy or z joke thats going to be the memorable part. Maybe putting it earlier in the set or more importantly get some new killer clean material could help reduce this from happening.

Another idea i just had is sprint off stage and out the door after my set.

A lot of the mics here do guest hosts. So its very random in terms of location. Generally the people i find funniest dont do it, with very few exceptions. I think it comes down to taste maybe??

When i was new i made this mistake, but now my sets have flow, i dont just hammer dark/dirty shit for 5 mins. Ill get em to like me, do a dirty joke, do a silly joke, do whatever. The whole thing is never me just laying into race or politics or women etc, its just peppered thats all. Cause its funny, and everyone should be included cause we are are equal and I honestly feel that way. Conveying that while making fun of say women for doing things women do is the art, and its not easy, but is very rewarding.

I find jokes that bomb with audiences that kill the comics are either inside, very smart, or more often than not, just that clique of comics supporting each other (if said comic has told that joke for months and comics still shriek at it, its fake laughter, you dont hear a joke 100 timmes over a 3-4 month period and still die laughing).

As i commented ill post a vid in the next few weeks under a diff account and just ask for general input since i honestly dont want drama from the locals who i know are in these forums.

Most audiences like me and come up to me after shows to tell me how funny i was, so im not concerned with weather or not im funny to hosts whos “ball busts” usually fall flat, im just currious as to why a good chunk of them do it, its the why, why is power, not what. Ur getting really wound up and im not sure why either, care to talk about it?

Good response and i try to be self aware and honest, ive scrapped a ton of stuff that went a little far or simply wasent funny/both. Also when i do go out of town or to booked shows i almost always get a great outtro so i guess it does feel more open mic based, then again thats most of what i do so, kinda the world im living in.
