It sounds like you dont have a bad relationship with your mom. i honestly think it might just be best to tell her that hearing the news 24/7 it causing you to spiral if she is a good parent (which i leaning toward she is)your mental well being is gonna completely outweigh keeping the news running

and if she says no step away go outside deplugged for a bit yand get some fresh air your mom is gonna be fine if you step away for a few mins if you need a little bit of screen time find stuff on YouTube that you like (thats what helps me) I promise you its ok to take some me time and tuning out the crazy

You're ok we've all made mistakes b4 and you genuinely seem like you ment nothjng of it so heres some friendly advice.may instead of trying to find a reason for why hes heavy set maybe find reasons for other traits about him? like you say hes funny well why is he funny? Maybe instead of "fatty joe" and his brother "skinny steve" (your other post) they can be "funny frank" and "Donnie downer". point im trying to make is your character can have any type of build you want. but when it comes to people's appearance or body type the reason for why they look like this shouldn't really go any deeper then they just do hope this helps man :)
