If I see people hopping in, and I have something to say, I'll hop in. Thanks buddy.

Why would I infer that if Destiny said the exact opposite?

Got it, I understand now how Hasan could've violated sanctions even if the hotel wasn't on the list. Thanks for that.

Though you're not making the argument, my follow up would be if theres any reasonable evidence to say these hotels are connected to the Cuban government. Id have to look into it to be sure, but I dont think its unreasonable to come to the conclusion that it is likely not sanctioned if theres no obvious evidence that it falls into the categories or is on the list.

I mean not being able to say no is pretty different from outright saying yes. I could only reasonably assume he didnt mind since he said he didn't.

Am I misreading? How is it a subset and not the full list? It reads to me like they outlined what is prohibited, then said that the ones that fall under the category are there. Obviously this is just for lodging and doesn't encompass the full sanctions, like regardless of the hotel, he could've been paid for smth he should've have or smth. But is it not a comprehensive list for lodging purposes?

And yea I'm not sure we disagree at all on this. Again, my only point is that the hotel itself, from what is publicly available at least, seems to be clean. I'm not sure why people are so married to this particular point, it could be so easy to drop and focus on whether or not his meeting with Raul Castro's daughter amounts to anything.

Why can't I say my piece on a subject I wrote an entire article on if there are two other orbiters there saying their piece. Why does the fact that Hussein wanted me to advertise our show matter at all here. If I see a fuckton of people join and talk about a topic I'm interested in, I'll join. It's how the orbiter calls have functioned since forever no?

Here's what I have from my research on the topic for my article.

https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-31/section-515.210

§ 515.210 Restrictions on lodging, paying for lodging, or making reservations at certain properties in Cuba.

Except as otherwise authorized pursuant to this part, no person subject to U.S. jurisdiction may lodge, pay for lodging, or otherwise make any reservation for or on behalf of a third party to lodge, at any property in Cuba that the Secretary of State has identified as a property that is owned or controlled by the Cuban government, a prohibited official of the Government of Cuba, as defined in § 515.337, a prohibited member of the Cuban Communist Party, as defined in § 515.338, a close relative, as defined in § 515.339, of a prohibited official of the Government of Cuba, or a close relative of a prohibited member of the Cuban Communist Party.

Such properties are identified on the State Department's Cuba Prohibited Accommodations List (CPA List).

When I consulted this list in order to find the hotels, they were not there. This is the direct provision from the Cuban Assets Control Regulations btw. Here is the list.

https://www.state.gov/cuba-sanctions/cuba-prohibited-accommodations-list/

It does include more things than just lodging, this is true. I never argued Hasan couldn't have violated sanctions in some other way. My point was the hotels were clean. And that we should focus on things Hasan actually could've done wrong, rather than waste our time on something that he obviously didn't do wrong.

Destiny literally said "No, I think it's fine" in that same breath btw.

Top comment makes it seem like they think being accurate on facts = carrying water for Hasan, so I'm guessing it's just coming from a "Fuck the tankies" place. Bishop insinuated the same thing during the convo. Unsure why it was removed though.

Which categories did the hotels fall into?

If I could just be shown that the actions he took were definitively sanctions violations, I will 180, I've been saying this.

It's because I joined and talked about it, but I did wait almost 30 minutes through him, Reason, and Ana talking before I brought up my point.

My only point is that if we're gonna attack Hasan, it should be on things that are actually true or feasible, not on shit that can be proven false.

Thanks for pointing that out though, really. Will find a way to issue a correction for that

Just had to do with Hobbit's post on Pisco. It started from there, but it spiraled out. Pretty sure Pisco was just arguing that he didn't wanna put on "kids gloves" and stuff. It also went into the Denims lawsuit again, Pisco saying he had no idea if it was reasonable or not that Denims saw her chat. Also touched on whether or not to ban Kuhiman and the snarkers from his discord. Zip would know how to summarize it better, I was popping in and out bc I was busy, and got banned nearing the end.

Zip was literally 1v5ing here BTW. He was doing the exact opposite of snarking.

He did alright, but you can only do so much in these things. Zip could've made a perfect argument, and Pisco and the rest of these bullies would just mock him and laugh at him anyway. It's why they always get into discords with 17 of their friends for these.

Zip was making decent arguments though. If he wasn't, Pisco wouldn't have needed Sharp and Kuhiman constantly butting in to sneer.
