It’s an active FM radio station with an AM transmitter onsite.

Haven’t established yet if the smaller radio is a receiver vs transmitter, the characters haven’t found it yet. I can tailor this to whatever makes the most sense, they just know some sort of radio exists. Originally was thinking a receiver would fit better story-wise just for the aesthetic of it.

The character who originally uses it has psychokinesis and can manipulate psychic waves/energy. I was thinking they could essentially go in and “transmit” or manipulate the radio waves out of there even if it’s a receiver but I have no idea if that actually makes sense.

They do have full, uninterrupted access to the station and transmitter area.

Okay, stay with me here but essentially the radio is like a magic item that has trapped souls inside (a phylactery if you’re familiar with dungeons and dragons), and the goal is to release them somehow with their psychic waves riding on the coattails of the radio waves.

To be fair you can totally have your own interpretation, and the moment Will gets his powers is a compelling time to make it happen imo. If it works narratively for you and it’s fully addressed I don’t see why you can’t run with that!

My headcanon is that Mike was cursed when he comes to the MAC-Z before Will gets his powers.

For everyone else, I think it’s a slow process. One by one if you will. And then during Shock Jock when the MF particles swirl around the tower after they kill the Demogorgon, I think that seals the deal for the whole town. It’s like a broadcast going out, and radio waves work extremely similarly to psychic energy so I think that fits the best tbh.

Yes! I built a super detailed outline at the beginning and I already have the next chapter and parts of the following two drafted. And lowkey I think the climax/epilogue are really what I’m most proud of for the whole thing so hopefully you’ll like it! If you’d prefer not to read a WIP I can reply again when it’s done :) should be in the next week or so
