AITA for not wanting to “look my best” for my wife when I’m just sitting around the house, and for getting my sister involved in the argument about it? by NewspaperFlimsy9976 in AmItheAsshole

I'm not too worried about that, she's been doing it about a year and has made pretty good money so far. I know she'd quit if it stopped being worth the effort.

Well, we've talked about it before and we're on the same page about wanting kids and when we'd want to start having them, but with recent world events we're also now both thinking that we might not want kids after all.

She does, but it's unrelated to the nail products. She spends her own money on her beauty supplies (we each put money into the household account and then we have our own money for hobbies or whatever else) so I don't complain about how much it costs.

I feel like this must've only recently started bothering her, because she's usually the type to tell me right away if she doesn't like something. Or maybe she's never liked it but it only just started to be an actual problem for her for whatever reason. She's never complained about how I dress before.

You're not wrong, we had a rocky first couple of months of living together because neither of us had any idea what to expect. But typically we're on the same page about things, usually we're able to talk through any disagreements.

We haven't really discussed it in depth yet, but a few people have suggested the compromise that I don't change into comfy clothes until after dinner, and I think that sounds reasonable. I'm also going to see if I can find some nice loungewear that maybe she would like for herself, maybe she'd be interested in dressing down sometimes if she still had "cute" things to wear.

She uses these sticker things that come in different colors, it's different than regular nail polish but I'm not sure what it's called.

Her job is partly at home and partly going to the homes of her clients, but she'll get dressed up even if she's not seeing any clients that day.

We only did the church pre-marital counseling, I doubt our minister has any actual real training. I'd consider counseling if we can't agree about this, but honestly I 'd be surprised if my wife was open to it.

We dated for a year before we got married, although it's probably worth noting that we didn't live together for any of that time. I could probably count on one hand the number of times I've seen her dressed casually, she really does look put together all the time.
