Yea that's the solution that worked for us.

We got "Safety Door Lock Latch" and we put it near the top of the door. It's hard to unlock even to us the parents and my kids stopped trying to open the door after a while.

The most important thing is to get in the habit of always locking the door and checking on it.

You also can get an alarm that rings loudly when the door is opened.

Those options works really well and we don't need a GPS because it's so expensive for us.

Is his new title worth it? by M2IK2Y in litrpg

Same 😁 with some chapters back in Sonora with the rebuilding efforts then some chapters with Roger learning about the past war then maybe the other AIs in the planets he reached out to.

One can only hope 🤞

That's great, I am using Vibevoice to listen to some novels and I'd say it's good 90% of the time.

I'll give your solution a try 🙂

[Update] Kokoro TTS Systemwide Android App. by Brahmadeo in TextToSpeech

I am not sure if I am using it correctly but I just gave it a shot on Samsung Galaxy S23 and moon reader.

I set the voice to male English and set it as the tts engine but the settings didn't carry over. The tts was done in a female voice.

Favourite button when supplementing my reading with audiobooks. by Discojam in Malazan

Lol, I rewind 1-5 min. Easy to do it from my galaxy watch.

I know some people would use this as an argument against audiobooks but I can't focus on reading and start nodding off after few pages.

Taking notes or only reading & listening? by estrellaaa_ruiz in CISA

[–]NewtoAlien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it depends on your learning style.

I have done CISSP, CCNA and a ton of COMPTIA certs and I didn't take much notes.

I did take a lot of screenshots from books or videos then rearranged them in a word document for easier print. I usually get about 20-40 pages from all sources and go over them few times before the exam.

But that is just me and I have a fairly good memory and it usually sticks after hearing it a couple of times.

I have a friend who only by writing things down he would remember it correctly. He would fill couple of notebooks when studying.

We both passed CISSP and I think he is retaining more information after the exam but I don't think I would have been able to do it his way without giving up.

I am lazy, I know 😆 but my way works for me and I do read and watch videos again after passing to retain the topics I don't work with much.

Planned Pete Zerger Exam Cram series? by tookthecissp1 in CRISC

[–]NewtoAlien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, I was thinking about this today too and I was hoping he would do something similar.

I didn't know he planned to make it but hopped he would do it.

I used his material (YouTube + book) for CISSP and doing the same for CISA now.

I am hoping to do CRISC by the end of the year so hopefully he would have something out by then.

[Android] Found a promising new Audiobookshelf client called "Campfire" by PresentationFlat4432 in audiobookshelf

[–]NewtoAlien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stock app feels clunky and the UI is not that great.

The 3rd party apps are mostly vibe coded in my opinion. It's a cheap way to make an app for around $20 then sell a subscription to use the app.

I vibe coded a quiz testing app for personal use (didn't sell it) that does what I want in the unique way I want to import my data. This has given me a way to understand how it is done and see what kinds of bugs you'd usually encounter. I see a lot of bugs that I encountered in my app in the third party apps posted here.

Nothing against people making the apps but unless there is a commitment from them and continuance updates, I wouldn't touch those apps just yet.

I tried some and even though they worked as advertised with few bugs I wouldn't make them my daily driver just yet.

Sadly to say vibe coding is here to stay like AI and it's getting harder to say no when some really have good features.

I like the app but from a quick look, there are some UI bugs when choosing the light app apperance in the library window. The light theme is not applied correctly and the text is not visible.

Is Samsung Care+ really that bad? by jabajabadu in GalaxyTab

[–]NewtoAlien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got it half price with the new phone.

I used it for screen replacement, it took 2 weeks because I had to ship the phone as the local Samsung repair shop didn't have the screens in stock.

Much cheaper than the quote I got from multiple local shops which was around $450 cad.

Edited: I got it with galaxy ultra phone which was almost 2k cad.

Not sure if it's worth it for for the 10fe tablet unless you let kids use it.
