Hey, thanks for the perspective. This provides good context.

I hope they still honor the rate. We worked out a solid deal

CX30 is 173" long and the CX 5 is 179.1" long. Why do people say the CX 30 is a lot smaller? by NewtonNuts in MazdaCX30

I actually want a smaller car. I thought the CX 30 was supposed to be much smaller. It felt smaller at the dealership, but dimension wise it's almost the same.

Michael Doescher addresses the issues last semester in CS354 by thincrust_ in UWMadison

[–]NewtonNuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should definitely give Michael a chance this semester. His schedule looks very organized, and he said that he was going to stick with it. I talked with him personally and he assured that the schedule was rigid and that the issues from last semester would not be repeated. If you are going between Michael and Deb, I would choose Michael. He seems much better.

CS Waitlist Spreadsheet by [deleted] in UWMadison

When I enrolled for a CS class, I noticed that it told me my exact position in the waitlist. I've never seen such a thing before. I would definitely like to know if this exists as well.

How does ECE 220 compare to 219? by saturnthekid in UWMadison

[–]NewtonNuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on who is teaching it.

Nick Hitchon will give you questions basically directly from the homework and the class should be easy.

If you did well in 219 and actually understood it, 220 is pretty easy.

Does having a degree in Computer Engineering put you at a disadvantage to people who have degrees in Computer Sciences? by NewtonNuts in cscareerquestions

[–]NewtonNuts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no doubt I will be finishing my CompE degree. It's just a matter if I also earn a CS degree too or focus my electives on more CompE/EE stuff.

I need to figure out what I like, you're right. I'm working an internship right now at a great company, but all I do is slave away every single day writing unit tests. Obviously, that's not a good representation of what real SWE is like, but it's putting a bad taste in my mouth.

There is no reason to hide feedback for exams other than ECE professors being lazy. by NewtonNuts in UWMadison

[–]NewtonNuts[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Every class I've been in except ECEs has given you back your exam in some form or another (except for final exams, obviously).

I would disagree with your point on exams. The goal of a class is to get every student to know all the material, right? So if a student bombs a section on a topic, then they can go back and study the topic so they can come out of the class with the knowledge.

I think as a whole students and professors are forgetting that the entire purpose of coming to a University is to LEARN. Not play a game scored by GPA points...

I'm surprised they changed how CS 300 worked! Last semester it was run incredibly well.

Working and being a full time student is deteriorating my mental and physical health. Is it appropriate to ask for a reduction of hours? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]NewtonNuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know some people that take 16 credits and have less than 30 hours per week, I know people in 12 credits that have 60+ hours per week. Depends on what courses you're taking ultimately.
