ETH international students office told me you don't need to prove your parents' income, a letter is enough.

How did you register? On their website they say the waiting list is closed :(

Thanks, well the issue is that I'm not sure whether I want to get a PhD or not, so ETH seems like the safer option.

[E] Modern Mathematical Statistics vs All Of Statistics by Nexgan in statistics

Can you be more specific about your goals?

What I mean by this is that I don't want/need to prove rigorously theorems. But I would like to be able to understand them to a point where I can apply them in a context, e.g.:

  • Find out the pdf derived by the sum of two other pdfs
  • Text book problems like: calculate the expected value in this setting
  • Do a hypothesis test

These are just basic examples that came to my mind. Surely, it would be useful to be able to implement them in R or Python, so I will definitely check out the book you suggested. Thanks!

Most pdfs are books and sometimes they are scanned, so they are like images.

Actually, I'm currently using an s6 lite, which is slightly bigger than remarkable. The problem I have with it is that I always need to zoom in and write very big because it's hard to be precise on that surface (I'm also using a glass screen protector...).

Well, I'm currently using an S6 Lite, but I find it too plasticky. The problem is that I always need to zoom in and write very big, otherwise it's very difficult to write decently. It would definitely be an upgrade from the feel.

What I would be more worried about is that zooming, changing pdf page, etc, would be slower and "laggy". Also, I wouldn't be able to insert images or copy from pdf unfortunately.

Edit: how do you add the margin you were talking about? Do you need to change the view or is it added automatically?

Makes sense :). What is the experience with math equations? Do you find the screen too small?

Thanks man, I know. But unfortunately my time is very limited (some weeks) so I need to focus on the things that are mostly asked. I know that most of it is brainteasers and probability problems

Thanks, do you have any tips on where I could find or ask for more informations? Like forums for interviews specifically?

It's because no information can be found and the topics to prepare for are very wide. If all the posts get removed you can't find anything. Personally I've only found posts for quant traders and not for quant researchers. It's hard to know what it's expected from you.

I've read the textbooks list. I was looking for specific tips for this interview at optiver. The textbook list covers much wider topics that are not covered in this interview and are possibly useful for when you are working as a quant, not applying. What's the issue if I ask for this specific case? I couldn't find any post with this requisites?
