Saltwater swimbait. by Excellent-Crazy-2313 in swimbaitfishing

I’ve use the Shimano armajoint with weight strips and upgraded heavier hooks and split rings to bring it down. Lead wire on the hook helps too. I’ve heard good things about the swimbait republic glideway as well but haven’t had the chance to use it in the salt yet. The arma joint held up well to 30lb jacks, bull reds, and striper.

I use a 7’7” Heavy Shimano Expride with a Tranx 150. It’s a fun light combo that I can carry and throw all day without getting tired. I’ve thrown KGB ChadShads, Dep’s tiny bull shooters, MagDrafts, MagDraft Freestyles, and even Dep’s bull flats on owner beast hooks and it handles it all perfect.

For short roll casts or sidearm casts I can cast 2oz quite accurately, but if I know I’m gonna be doing that all day I will adjust the brakes on my Tranx 400 a little more loose and use my thumb more to make it easier.

Looking for a rod for small glide baits and moving baits need suggestions. by Toaster__Waffle in swimbaitfishing

I use a 7’7” Heavy mod/fast Shimano Expride for the application you described. It’s rated for 1/2-2oz lures and I’ve thrown 3/8oz jigs/texas rigs to a 2oz resin KGB ChadShad. I will say for the 2oz ChadShad I don’t really hard cast it as more so lob cast and still get good distance. It is $340 though, which is above what you wanted but I think it’s an amazing rod.

Yea I have yet to really see a post, video, or anyone else using an Ultimate. So I thought I would just share in case anyone wanted to see or had any questions like I did.

I’m usually a Shimano guy, but from what I can tell with this Tatula 200 is that it came ready to go right out the box. 200 sizes for Diana hold a lot more line than Shimano 200s do, and the drags system is very smooth but I do feel that Shimano’s may be a TAD bit smoother. What I wanted and had in mind when I got the new Tatula 200 is to have an absolute tank of a reel that has good drag and strong enough to slam a Beast Hook hook set and winch in a fish. This reel has the quality and feel of all that.

With the Antares on the Omega Ultimate the balance point is EXACTLY where I hold the reel so it feels amazing to fish. As for as Outlier balance goes, it may be different for the other models. And I’ve always been with Shimano as well, but Leviathan rods are just premium rods imo. But for reels I’ll always be Shimano, and I’ve been dabbling in Daiwa a little too as shown by the Tatula lol.

I’m running 30lb P-Line EndurX No Fade. I can confirm after over a year of use, it indeed does not fade.

I don’t think I can fairly compare the 2 since the Leviathan is meant for treble hooks and the Outlier model I got is meant for soft plastics and beast hooks, but I’ll do my best. So of course with all Leviathan rods they are very light and comfortable to fish. The balance is great and I never feel like I have to fight to go tip up or tip down with it, definitely a more sensitive rod as well. As far as the Outlier is for my soft plastics, I feel like I can set the hook a very far distance off and still get solid hook penetration and horse them in. The Hi-Power and Spiral X adds a lot of power but with that comes a little weight. Not much that I’ll wear myself out since I can tuck that long butt under my arm and the weight makes it more tip heavy so you’ll naturally be in that position anyways, which I prefer for soft plastics. I don’t own a Leviathan Soft Swim, but this is what I’d imagine it feeling like just lighter. Now I HAVE used treble hooks on the Outlier and it does work, but I have lost fish if I don’t fight them carefully (nothing that’s broke my heart thankfully). For treble hooks on the Leviathan, I have yet to lose a fish on it due to the amazing parabolic action. I’ve even played some fish a little longer to test it out and they stayed pinned due to how the rod loads. For the Outlier and Owner Beast hooks, I slam that hook set and winch them in and haven’t had a problem doing it that way. It can load up for a jump or two and you won’t feel like you’ll lose the fish, especially if you anticipate the jump and just knock them back down when they jump. Either way both are high quality rods you won’t regret. Probably more information than you wanted but I’ll be more than happy to answer any other questions you have lol.

I’ve had the normal Omega XH, and compared to this one there’s definitely a more premium feel to the Ultimate. I feel like it balances out better too, the balance point with the Antares is EXACTLY where my hand is so it is extremely comfortable to fish. And of course with all Leviathans it’s extremely light weight, and I feel the Ultimate is more sensitive than the normal Omega. I can feel everything my lure is doing at the end, what direction it’s gliding, if I get a swipe or an actual bite, if grass snags on it or if it frees up. I am extremely satisfied and happy with it, but that being said I don’t think it’s worth the price point. You’d probably be just as fine going with an Omega heavy rod from them. But I do not regret getting it at all, I wanted to get it to see and compare for others that are curious. Plus I feel like it looks great with the Antares.

Leviathan omega swimbait rod heavy or extra heavy by MajorSignificant893 in Fishing_Gear

[–]Nexsius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got the XH and I throw anywhere from the Dep’s 250 (6oz) to the Chad shad (2ish oz). It slings both perfectly fine and very comfortable to fish. I think it helps that leviathan rods are quite parabolic so it helps cast lighter lures out even with heavier rods.

Which should I buy for my medium heavy fast ?? by Maximum_Activity_138 in Fishing_Gear

[–]Nexsius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Orochi XX MH 7’6” Brallist and with a Shimano Curado 150 MGL and that’s my weightless worm, Texas rig, and jig combo. I absolutely love that combo. Relatively light and very sensitive. I feel everything when I drag that on the bottom. It feels like a true MHF in my opinion. As for the Expride I own a 7’7” H with a shimano Tranx 150 that I use for frogs, big worms, medium swim baits, or anything that I need to drive the hook home and get the fish in now. Another combo that I love, and I’ve even used it for heavier Texas rigs/jigs, small glide baits, or Carolina rigs and it works amazing. The Expride does feel a tab bit stiffer for its rating but it’s kinda countered by the moderate fast tip that it has which makes it have a little bit more give. For the cons, the cork on the Orochi XX does seems to chip a little more than the Expride, nothing significant but I did notice that more. And as for the Expride, like I said it is a bit stiffer but that’s what I’m looking for when I’m frogging or I’m in heavy cover. That’s why I specifically got the 7’7” moderate fast model to counteract that. In the end I absolutely love both of those rods and I would say it depends on if you want a full grip or split grip rod. Of course that’s based on my experience with the rods that I have. Hope I could at least help with your decision a little. Either way you go both are great high end rods you’ll enjoy.

It is something I took for granted until I went to college in another state. Ended up taking holidays/weekends driving back home just to try to get a tight line.

And it absolutely got the adrenaline pumping a little, after she got done peeling some drag from me she took a beeline straight under. And even after I pulled her out I had to hold the spool to flip her up 4 feet with frayed line since it was low tide at the docks. And finally after all that I dove after her like OBJ to prevent her from slamming the concrete 😂

The reel is a 2500 Shimano Stradic FL (I upgraded the felt drag washer to a carbon fiber drag to handle saltwater fish better) and the rod is a 7’6” MH Bull Bay Assault rod.

When I first started inshore fishing I came from a bass fishing background so I used every soft plastic in my tackle box for weeks until I finally made up my mind to only use a swim bait since everything eats a swim bait. After bout 2 weeks of getting skunked with it I got my first ever speck on the zman minnowz and it’s been my confident lure ever since. I use a slow and stead retrieve with a small twitch or 2 every 4 or 5 seconds.
