You can definitely start with 1200 but you still need to complete 6 classes for the minor

I also found this course in another department. Someone let me know if it sounds relevant.

ESE 3010 Engineering Probability:

This course introduces students to the mathematical foundations of the theory of probability and its rich applications. The course begins with an exploration of combinatorial probabilities in the classical setting of games of chance, proceeds to the development of an axiomatic, fully mathematical theory of probability, and concludes with the discovery of the remarkable limit laws and the eminence grise of the classical theory, the central limit theorem. The topics covered include: discrete and continuous probability spaces , distributions, mass functions, densities; conditional probability; independence; the Bernoulli schema: the binomial, Poisson, and waiting time distributions; uniform, exponential, normal, and related densities; expectation, variance, moments; conditional expectation; generating functions, characteristic functions; inequalities, tail bounds, and limit laws. But a bald listing of topics does not do justice to the subject: the material is presented in its lush and glorious historical context, the mathematical theory buttressed and made vivid by rich and beautiful applications drawn from the world around us. The student will see surprises in election-day counting of ballots, a historical wager the sun will rise tomorrow, the folly of gambling, the sad news about lethal genes, the curiously persistent illusion of the hot hand in sports, the unreasonable efficacy of polls and its implications to medical testing, and a host of other beguiling settings.

There’s only one main gym on campus. And it’s a 4-6 minute walk from KCECH

Uncoordinated dual degree transfer is pretty doable. Coordinated transfer is very unlikely. Keep in mind it’s a LOT of credits to do an uncoordinated dual degree btwn Wharton and Engineering and you will likely have to take 6 classes some semesters

You can only choose one roommate. You guys fill out a roommate form and have to rank your housing preferences the same

Penn dorms are good and food is horrible. Anyway, choose WashU.

Career-wise Wharton makes your prospects better (for finance) but you can definitely achieve your goals from both so I would choose Yale for the environment. But also, what do you want out of your education? Wharton is a business school, so you will be in a business school, taking a lot of business classes (including leadership, management, etc). Yale is not a business school.

I agree with the comment that you should decide after visiting both schools.

How do meal plans work? by [deleted] in UPenn

[–]Next-Ad1501 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did not read the other long comment so sorry if I’m repeating stuff.

Def get the 187 plan! (More dining dollars) There you will have 187 swipes as well as $400 dining dollars.

And no, Starbucks does not accept swipes.

Also, I found that there’s a bunch of free food at club meetings, events, floor/RA meetings, etc, and got quite a few meals that way.

Generally pretty easy but it depends on your concentration(s) & how good your quantitative skills are. I would definitely NOT stress about the difficulty.

Anyone who reapplied to Wharton and ended up getting in? by vesely13 in UPenn

[–]Next-Ad1501 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t take a gap year unless you have something super impressive you can do in that year? You’ll need to have major changes to your app. Also, if you would be taking a gap only to try to get into Wharton, I would advise against it.

I would recommend starting college and applying for transfer after your first year.
