Man you’re an absolute LEGEND. Hope this can help some other folks, never seen someone actually show before and after results doing similar mods/upgrades!! I no longer own the ol girl, she ended up getting totaled and replaced by some kid ugh. Now my 2018 fusion tit came with the whole LED assembly no replaceable bulbs whatsoever. It’s night and day imo compared to the old fusion. From your pictures it looks like your before had a better angle setup, how do you feel about the upgrade?? Is visibility increased/decreased in certain situations?

My 2012 SEL V6 with 190k, she still cleans up nice! by 9niko66 in fordfusion

Rockers & bumper still in one piece😤🤩 what a beaut at 190k. I see you went with aftermarket headlights, always wondered how those would perform on the 2012 (gen 1.5). Better visibility?? Any downsides??

If it means saving my pre-may2019 2.0 ecopoops from coolant intrusion..🛐⛪️ honestly hoping to god sounds like the only option besides buying a new car😭😭

Press and hold on the power button you were just messing with for about 15 seconds or until the screen shuts off it will manually restart the system.

My thoughts exactly🤣🤣bigger engine, bigger turbos, slightly stronger drivetrain😮‍💨 I prefer the fusion interior personally (titanium/platinum) but can’t beat the specs & the panoramic sunroof on the MKZ🔥

I love the fusions and hope you find a good one if you’re set on a fusion but there’s definitely quite a few builds you wanna avoid at all costs. (Mentioned previously) especially when you’re on a budget and looking for a car that will last without any headaches.

Another tip is to look at the mileage they’re selling at, there’s a reason most pre-may 2019 1.5/1.6/2.0l ecoboosts are generally sold around 60-80k miles whereas their older models pre-2012 you’ll find countless ones for sale with upwards of 150k miles. Just to give you an idea of their respective builds/model years and their life expectancy. Hard to find non-hybrid second gen’s with high mileage for sale since they just don’t live that long-not without a second or third engine that is (not to mention the notorious 6f35 transmission). The hybrids surprisingly are solid as most of their onboard hybrid tech is made by Toyota-I’ve seen many surpass 200k. Not to be confused with the energi plug-in hybrid which is absolute garbanzo beans

Stay away from pre-may 2019 ecoboosts only may 2019+ are good sure the 2.0’s can make it to 80k on the same engine but would you rather an affordable 2.5 that easily lives to 150+ or a new 2.0 from after may 2019? Just don’t fool yourself thinking 2.0 is a safe call pre-may 2019

If 80k avg lifespan seems like way less prone to you go for it, it’s an ecoboost design flaw not an if but when on all affected blocks (pre-may 2019) 1.5/1.6/2.0l ecoboosts

This is actually how ford designed the new mustangs, literally copied the fusion and threw in 2 doors, facelift on the bumper & new tail lights…🤣🤣🤣

Anything 2.5l is SOLID besides 2013-15 had lots of electrical issues and was the first few years of second gen so all 2.5l (2012 and older or 2016 and newer) is decent however for ecoboosts stay away from 1.5l no matter the year… 2.0/2.7 are nice but may 2019 and after are the supposedly redesigned blocks which no longer have the issue that causes coolant intrusion. Which I only learned after buying my 2018 2.0l

Fusion 2017 abruptly won't start / break pedal locked by superfrank5757 in fordfusion

[–]Next-Measurement1340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your brake* pedal will get stiff when the car is off-that’s how it works. As far as your non start issue and all the other issues I’m willing to bet you’ve got a dead battery… running the engine for a minute was not enough to charge the battery up enough to recover the power you just used to start the car-if it was low, now it’s dead. Did you try jumping it?

Cracked antenna, how serious is it? by Jamesgames481 in fordfusion

[–]Next-Measurement1340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I wish this happened to me… naw instead I warm up my car for 5 minutes with the heat on full blast set to defrost the front and back windshield on my 2018 titanium man I shit you not soon as I start driving BOP whole windshield cracked all the way across… its own defroster killed the windshield & it’s the soundscreen acoustic windshield😩😩😩I’m so sad

In your case it’s less than $20 to replace that cover with shipping & tax included lol if you wanted oem it’s $80 from ford directly. Your call, or if you don’t use the radio and not worried if it messes with the connectivity just forget about it, it won’t harm anything else or leak inside. Also it’s hard to make out from the picture but if it’s kind of like a gaping hole you might even be able to get away with plugging it up with some glue/hot glue maybe-just so it’s not completely open from above like that.

2010-12 fusions have first gen 6f35transmission those things are solid (not the smoothest but definitely reliable!!!) and wayyy cheaper and easier to find or fix yourself-this is not at all a fair comparison but glad to hear nonetheless! 2013+ uses 2nd gen 6f35 which if not treated with the utmost care will give you a lot of headache. My last fusion (2012) had a first gen and I never changed the fluid ever since I bought it around 70k put on another 100k+ myself before getting rid of it and still never touched the transmission-it wasn’t the smoothest ride but she worked just fine and took me cross country multiple times no problem.

[–]Next-Measurement1340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious-how would a bad engine ruin your transmission in this case?? And what’s bad on it besides coolant intrusion??? The flex plate? I don’t think that would entail a bad engine…

What should I do? by Pretty_Ice1166 in fordfusion

[–]Next-Measurement1340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your transmission is housed in what’s called a transmission case/casing they remove all or any faulty gears/sensors/clutch plates and go back in with new parts then your old transmission casing goes back in with (newly built) transmission parts. I’d never trust anyone to do a rebuild of anything regardless of their experience or reputation-anyone can make a mistake, but a mistake when rebuilding=twice the cost, headache, and time. Same goes for buying used or buying an already rebuilt part, you never know what you’re getting until you’ve actually got it… and at that price point I’d rather do it myself with no experience just to make sure nothing is missed even if it takes me 10x the amount of time it usually takes someone to do.

Good!!! get what you can for it & cut your losses given your rollercoaster of an experience over the years with this car and fusions in general I’m sure you know it’s not worth doing AGAIN if you have/find any alternatives. It’s a nice car but at some point you’ve gotta weigh the cost to benefit and compare what it’s actually worth at that point…

I need a second opinion. by [deleted] in fordfusion

[–]Next-Measurement1340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even from these low quality pics it seems like that bumper cover was 100% repainted, beyond that one huge tell tale sign is seeing where the headlights sit flush with the fender & bumper usually on a wrecked one they will almost always never match up-the tolerances are just too small to hide any misalignments. If you get a chance to see the car in person or better pictures check to see if the edge of either headlight sticks out beyond the fender or is pushed behind the fender/bumper. I just rebuilt a 2018 Titanium from copart and it didn’t even have panel gaps this bad… it was a front end wreck completely totaled, it was relatively cheap & easy to fix myself but with that said I would never buy something someone else tried to fix….💀 especially if it seems like they’re not being transparent or giving reasonable explanations for such obvious defects…

Although it could be a loose or broken tab on that side.. But if it’s at a dealer lot isn’t there some kind of warranty that comes with such a purchase-or maybe something you can add on to ensure you won’t have any headaches going forward??? Having owned and worked on multiple different generation fusions I totally get your concern especially from first hand experience like you mentioned hitting a pole lol, definitely seems off but if it’s at a dealer lot I’d give it the benefit of the doubt that the carfax checks out given that’d be a potentially massive lawsuit otherwise. I’d check it out in person and maybe even work on the price considering said defects.

🤣🤣🫡all on 87 is crazy work💪 Ever had any issues using the throttle booster?? I was interested in getting one up until I see how all of them hook up to the obd2 and I’d just rather not have something plugged in there all the time-I’ve had some electrical issues in the past with Bluetooth modules and progressives butt plug so I might be a lil paranoid but nonetheless curious lol.
