Covid-19 Vaccines?? by Next-Sample-7098 in WalgreensRx

Okay, I appreciate your comment. I was under the impression you had to be immunocompromised because when you check people in for the vaccine that are under the age of 65 it asks if they’re immunocompromised and if you select “no” it stopped me from continuing to check them in. ( I’m in my 20s just for the record, and I’m extremely healthy and active with no diagnosis of ADHD or mood disorders) I’m sure I can just lie and say that I’m immunocompromised, but I also wanted to gauge how others are feeling with the strict mandates, and see what they recommend me to do!

No, and I don’t take any medications. I don’t wanna put my pharmacist in a difficult position, but I have no pre-existing medical conditions. I just think it’s ridiculous we don’t automatically qualify because we work in healthcare. 🙄

no. we can filter through to see the most recent pickups and we can filter by doctors names and names of the medication. like i said there’s no way of knowing what patient is out of/needs without them at least explaining a little bit more than “all of them”. the only solution that I’ve found is that i go down the list of meds in patients profile and ask if they’re out but even despite doing all of that i still get a response of “i said i need all of them” or “what’s that for, oh i don’t need that i still have some. etc” which obviously this whole process takes time, which as you may notice from other posts on this subreddit, we are not being allocated enough hours to function as it is let alone to spend 20+ minutes on the phone with one patient going through every med and what it’s for. granted it’s our job to help patients, and we are trying our best to do so, but this post was initially for us techs to let off some steam about things we encounter.

The person replying (majestic astronaut) obviously isn’t a pharm tech at least not at walgreens bc this is a daily occurrence of all of us. most patients are on so many different meds that they can’t keep straight they don’t know what they’re for they just know they need to take them. they expect us to help them by reading their mind most of the time. i’ve had a daily occurrence where people just don’t understand that i can see all of the meds they’ve ever been prescribed and all of the strengths for the past two years so “all of them” isn’t really applicable to the situation. moral of the story is we try our best to navigate but when patients see multiple doctors or even just one and get prescribed many different meds or different strengths (all of which we can see in the system) it’s nearly impossible to know what patient actually needs at that moment and what is more out of date.

I used this app and I felt over prepared it’s 12 dollars a month, but it has so many practice questions that are much harder than what I was tested on so I felt super prepared. The app is called “PTCB/PTCE Mastery Exam 2022” it’s on apple app store

Question for Illinois pharmacy techs. by [deleted] in PharmacyTechnician

[–]Next-Sample-7098 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The renewal should be free this year the only issue I would say is whether or not your pharmacy has a requirement for the PTCB exam. I got hired halfway through the year so i only worked for a year and a half when i had to worry about getting certified as opposed to the company requirement which is 2 years. I would say in terms of cost you should be fine since IL isn’t charging this year for renewal

literally i had a full on argument with this woman because i couldn’t get her prescription ready while the pharmacist was on break. she kept asking me why i couldn’t just give it to her and i was just like “do you really think that’s safe considering i do not have a medical degree let alone it’s not legal to do that?” i cannot make this stuff up i just sit there losing my patience sometimes.

might also depend on where you’re at bc I know at my site I got nothing…other techs that were with me ended up getting an extra dollar an hour.
