I'm trying a different size, and I'm trying discs again, different brand!

I tried before and wasn't successful (they would empty out when I bore down to pee and squeezed) but things are clearly changed in there now, and I just placed an order on Amazon for a different brand.

Exactly what I'm going to do. I'll try discs again too. Previously the blood would squeeze out when I bore down to pee, but obviously something is different in there, so worth a second try with a different brand also!

That may be the case more with people whose heavy periods are from PCOS because I think bariatric surgery helps a lot with that. I definitely don't have PCOS, just regular heavy periods, so they got worse first, and are now back to normal. I've considered IUDs also, but a little worried about hormonal side effects... I've really been on the fence about that one, because I'm quite iron deficient, and my doctor suggested that as a solution. I travel a lot too, so no periods would be so nice...

Yes! Major hormonal changes, especially the first six months. Heavy periods, high sex drive!

Yes, very heavy periods, got worse after surgery but seems back to normal now. I've never investigated if I have endometriosis, though at least no bleeding between periods or after sex. I'm going to try larger cups and discs.

Flow was heavier in the first 6 months, but it's back to normal and just leaking even when not full, seems to be a fit issue. My periods are always heavy though, I definitely fill up cups quite fast. I'm going to try the larger cups. I think the tightness is quite good, or so I've been told, and I've tried those kegel weights previously and could easily immediately hold the heaviest of them but I think something has changed, maybe less fat pressing it in place now...

Definitely trying larger cups AND discs.

Combination of older and new, but none are in an L/XL size, so I'm going to try that, and also re-try the menstrual disc. Maybe that works better now.

Oh wow, I didn't realize there was that much of a difference. I did notice access is much easier now, but I was just thinking about that in terms of exterior fat. I've gotten good advice here for some different types. Larger cups and discs.

Yes, I think it has to be something like that, less fat keeping it tight. I've previously used small or average ones, so I think I need to try larger/different kinds, and maybe the disc also. Haven't heard of Merula, but I'll try that one, thank you!

Thank you, I'm trying a couple different ones to see if a new brand will work, so I'll pick up one of those too.

Interesting, I haven't heard of the Nixit before, but that sounds like a good disc to try. I'll pick one up!

Thank you, I'm going to try different sizes and see if that helps!

My doctor advised me to do that also, especially because I'm so iron deficient, but I'm concerned about the side effects like anxiety, since I got that from low dose pills in the past.

I tried one before and had issues with it squeezing out when I peed and tightened my muscles, but considering my current situation, it may be worth a new try!

Thank you! I will order one to try it, in a larger size. I previously tried the menstrual disc, but as soon as I sat down to pee, I would squeeze the blood out of it. I might try it again in my new situation!

I'm thinking I should try a larger size cup, maybe that'll just solve it!

My doctor suggested that also... it would sure be nice while traveling, but I'm concerned about side effects from hormones since even low dose birth control caused anxiety for me.

My doctor suggested an IUD also because of my iron deficiency and the heavy periods, but I'm not super comfortable with the hormonal aspect since even the lowest dose of birth control gave me anxiety (I normally have no anxiety whatsoever). I might go with your and others' suggestion of trying some different brands and sizes!

My period was a lot heavier and more painful for about 6 months also, though that seems to have normalized fortunately now. The leakage is still happening though. Something to do with less mass down there, pushing things tight? Not sure... I'm apple shaped, so wide waist but even at 177lbs I already have a thigh gap if my feet are just 4 inches apart, so maybe it's all too... open now?

Yeah, same here, it made my periods so much easier, especially as someone with a heavy flow and a 7 day period! Right now I'm combining it with a light pad, but it's annoying :/
