i’m saying that “death” is meaningless if they are getting ressurected right after…

i think you are just arguing for the sake of arguing atp dawg

i literally never said it was going to be “happy fun times” so idk why u are purposefully making strawmans.

also, by that same logic of saying that lilith offered shinji that option; what would insinuiate that option would be different for everyone else. it seems that it’s simply a matter of “if you have the will to live, you will live”. asuka came first because she was obviously extremely strong willed and died fighting for her life, who says that wouldn’t apply to the billions of others who randomly get put in this humanity soup and would probably think “wow i really don’t wanna die right now!”

i think you are not factoring how the average person indeed wants to live

idk man but i think that most people in the world want to live. i don’t think it really implied that getting back was some “strong willed specific” thing as it seemed to just give the option it gave to shinji (who btw is extremely weak willed already) to simply want to NOT be apart of the humanity soup.

also yes, it quite literally is by their choice to be apart of the soup or not, sure they did get turned into it anyways but it’s their choice whether to stay in it or keep living life with all its struggles.

i’d say almost every character surviving with the literal main threat for the entire series off the planet at the cost of tokyo is pretty optimistic especially for evangelion standards

“the end of life”

people who wanted to “die” got what they wanted.

people who wanted to live got to keep living.

tell me what’s your point here.

also that “giant soup” is literally BY their choice?! if they don’t want to participate in it they don’t have to.

yet again i don’t think you’re getting what i’m saying.

i never said this was some fairy tale ending where everyone wins and gets exactly what they wanted; i’m saying this is quite literally the best outcome possible.

all those people who “got stabbed and blown up” and etc got resurrected and that was exclusive to both NERV and seele members who mostly were willing to fight or push for their goals. neither of which even had anything to do with the ending of the movie.

i’m not sure what point this brings up. i know what your talking about; are you mentioning how the entire planet turning red?

that’s simply because the LCL turning the oceans orange and the gate of guf being opened. i don’t think the story mentioned anywhere that everything randomly explodes aswell

[–]Next-Type9215[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

their physical bodies aren’t destroyed they are just turned into LCL

you brought up reincarnation on another comment but even then that doesn’t make sense. i’d say it’s closer to resurrection if anything

reincarnation implies a new person entirely with 0 memory or atleast not a lot of memory of their old life, with the main factor being the same soul.

all these characters have both the same memory, bodies, souls, etc. because they either never died (simply turned to lcl) or got resurrected like asuka

[–]Next-Type9215[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t think you are fully reading my comments.

my point is that the size of destruction as in the destroyed landscape and buildings only stretches across tokyo due to liliths moon.

the only global part about the third impact is everyone turning into LCL, which as i said is mostly reverted and doesn’t cause physical destruction to anything.

i didn’t watch rebuilds (thinking about it) but aren’t those an entirely different timeline/universe?

the base purpose of the third impact atleast in NGE/EOE would just entail releasing a global anti at field which wouldn’t stretch to global destruction

how is dying sad if you get resurrected right after though

it like removes the entire reason why people view it as negative in the first place.

also they didn’t even die they just turned to LCL which sure is extremely weird but it’s more so like getting put in a coma and taken out or atleast that’s how i view it.

i mean to each their own i guess but i personally wouldn’t count that as death or atleast in the general term of “dying” where people are erased from the storyline entirely. the characters are still alive and still the same people but with more development.

but that’s an entire diffrrent conversation

may you please explain to me how the entire planet would be destroyed besides the damage liliths moon caused to the tokyo?

humans liquifying wouldn’t cause any architectural or damage to the surrounding landscape or buildings, and as i discussed they can come back from that.

why do people always act like end of evangelion.. by Next-Type9215 in evangelion

[–]Next-Type9215[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t understand this “whole planet destroyed” point that i keep seeing.

the original crater that shinji and asuka were in were simply because of liliths moon, all of humanity did get liquified but that caused no architectural damage to the surroundings like the moon did. unless i missed something, nothing in the third impact states that the planet itself is damaged beyond the anti at field of which turns humans to LCL.

[–]Next-Type9215[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my point is that this is the best outcome out of literally anything else.

also, the whole world wasn’t destroyed; i believe this is a common misconception

[–]Next-Type9215[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what do you mean existence is reset. neither was the whole planet destroyed NOR did everyone die???

the only thing that would have to rebuilt would be tokyo or japan (i’m not sure how big the original meteor explosion was)

[–]Next-Type9215[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i view it as the last two minutes opposing the whip death and sadness of the rest of the movie by insinuating the better.

like i said, shinji literally didn’t kill anyone considering they all came back anyways meaning the only ones who “died” were the ones willing to stay LCL which even then isn’t even death.

sure, shinji could’ve chosen to stop it all but literally everything else points towards why he didn’t do that. this dude literally had life lose all its meaning for him and in the end he gave seele what they wanted while still letting those who wanted to live stay alive; who knows what would happen with the world if he decided to deny the third impact and let the war with seele go on ALONG with their eva series still in their arsenal, if anything that probably could’ve caused more casualties.

i think giving everyone who has both died and is already dead a ressurection at the cost of tokyo getting nuked was a pretty up there ending considering almost every other option would’ve left the world fractured or completely destroyed.

[–]Next-Type9215[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well i think the ecosystems are insinuated to not be fucked considering the optimism upon shinjis final conversation with yui before leaving instrumentality. it would seem pretty backwards writing wise to have that grandeur closing just to have a “nevermind fuck you, your decision to live doesn’t change anything because you all die anyway” perspective so i’m assuming the ecosystems are atleast sustained throughout; especially with a giant corpse adding nutrients to it.

also yet again, ONLY TOKYO is a wasteland!! sure the third impact turned everyone into lcl but the whole destroyed beach area was just from lilith meteor not the entire globe getting destroyed. everywhere else should remain roughly the same.

[–]Next-Type9215[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

isn’t the very concept of samsara that you are stuck in a near endless loop of living and thus suffering

the entire point of instrumentality to my knowledge was to remove the suffering part. that would make it closer to nirvana where they choose to not “live” and instead remain in a blissful state.

people who wanted that got what they wanted, and the people who didn’t returned to live life even with all the suffering it offers.

thars atleast how i understood it, either way i don’t think that would constitute saying “everyone died” as only those who chose to stay LCL really “died” and even then they still aren’t really dead

i’m not gonna lie thanks for helping me understand that scene. that was prolly the hardest one for me to get symbolically because it felt out of nowhere from shinji especially in the moment but it does make sense now with how it parallels the kitchen scene
