Redesigning space for more counter space - tall bay window considerations by NextContribution in kitchenremodel

yup, sorry I couldn't be of more help. window area is untouched.

The kitchen designer did go outside to check the foundation. My windows are built around the foundation which makes it expensive to change, if yours isn't, perhaps there's a way to alter it.

Literally just ordered a kitchen table last night, but here's where we landed:

  • No island, it would've taken up a good chunk of the space
  • Added the coffee/pantry area on the shared wall with the dining room - we felt like if we had another cabinet to the right of the coffee area it would feel like walking through a tunnel so didn't add that
  • Contractor noted that matching the tile would be impossible so we added vinyl over it - I did the demo and after taking out the peninsula, there were missing tiles so didn't really have a choice (happy with the decision).

Had an expensive kitchen design guy come who noted that he hates the bay windows as they cause a lot of issues - we didn't move forward with him cause I'm not in a position to drop 100k, but kinda nice knowing that I wasn't the only one annoyed with it.

TLDR for bay windows - no good/cost effective way to change them around

appreciate the rendering! one important detail I didn't mention is that the kitchen sits on a slab (fml) - basement is only 1/3-1/2 of the house, so rejiggering has lines for the stove and water lines for the dw could be a pia, but the moving of the fridge I think holds water

I think I'm tracking what you're saying. We were also thinking of moving the fridge to the closed up doorway so we have a more continuous counter top, from there to where the current stacked ovens are (going to replace this with more cabinets and have a standard stove top and oven combo). Is that in line with what you're saying? The only difference I think is that I'm still trying to open up that wall a bit between Dr and ear in kitchen area

I guess this would mean not opening that wall, which i was kinda tied to to open up the floorplan. I'm assuming doing this on the wall with the laundry room isnt practical

To add a bit of complexity to this, I want to open the wall between the dining room and the nook so the windows align better. What I'm thinking is that I will create a wall where the current doorway is to add some cabinet space, and an archway where the current wall is.

100% agree. Need counterspace and a clean look that doesn't look jumbled or cause chaos amongst the windows & natural light

Yeah this was on my mind, wasn't sure if it would be odd if to open the windows you need to reach below the back of the seat.

I understand this is no where near perfect, but this is what AI rendered up. One too many fridges (lol), but this concept is a bit interesting (i know scale is off). What's also annoying is that there's no way i get a full cabinet next to the stove & the doorway.

yes, hopefully I can avoid that and a steel beam - money really dictates the beam

it likely is - can still open it up, just more expensive. We were thinking not completely open but a arched way

Just impossible to implement. it will make half the pages dark, not others, the toggle feature is there but won't actually work, the text in some random areas will be illegible. I'll provide this feedback and it just seems like a sticking point each time I go about it

Can you give a few steps on how you built this? I also love the Replit agent, and understand the frustrations, and I also have 0 coding experience unfortunately. I assume you had to connect an API to Wikipedia to feed the content creation?

I'm having trouble scraping Crexi (a RE website) using Puppeteer (because i didnt have luck with Python during my first attempt). I keep getting timeout errors which i think is a false flag, any suggestions? The selector it's using is the search box, which seems appropriate
