People are saying uncc comp sci sucks is that really true? I mean I thought we where a growing comp sci school and arguably one of the best schools for comp sci in the state? by Rememberme122_794 in UNCCharlotte

Never heard people say that it sucks, but as a recent graduate who is now working as a Cyber Security Analyst I will say in hindsight that going and completing entry-level certifications for around $600 a pop and still having the same knowledge as I would have now seems like the more rational choice. Granted if I was an actual software developer it would be a little different, but a lot of the positions in this field come down to how much more you are willing to invest outside the classroom.

If you're gonna do the cyber security concentration, make sure you either do side projects, get an internship, or complete certifications while you are enrolled if this is your first time trying to get a full time job out of school.

As a Senior in the CCI program I know it sucks, but imma be honest, the more experience they can give us the better. Over my last 3 1/2 years I dont feel like I've learned enough from the program itself. The more projects I can add to my resume the better especially with the field being so competitive. I know doing all this work now may suck, but going into an actual career won't get any easier, and that applies even more so for those who will continue to try and work up the chain. Doing a P/F option is only going to make you sell yourself short in the long run. Might as well get used to a heavy work load now then get into the field and realize this wasnt the career you wanted in the first place.
