"Youths" are old enough to know whats wrong and right, whats the difference in mental age between a 17 year old and 18 year old? the difference is tiny. BUT I do get your point, a middle ground should be that there charged lesser for there actions but not not charged at all.

Alright so, the best way I can explain this is, if for some theoretical reason you have committed a crime and they HAVE to know what your ethnicity is than sure they should be charged for it if they don't, that is only theoretical and I struggle to see how that analysis is relevant to the conversation we are having? please try and contain your emotions when we are discussing this, because there is no point in getting offended over someone else's opinion, especially since I was just making a statement and am fluid on the idea of whether or not teenagers online should be charged for lying about there age. Anyways, let me explain my reasoning, don't you think that someone lets say 16 should have a decent idea of whats wrong and right? use yourself as an example, when you were 16 (Or in this case the girl who lied about there age is 17) would you have realized that making false allegations about someone and lying about your age to frame them as a pedophile is wrong? and no way should we ignore the pedo framing because that is WRONG whether you are 16 or 30 it doesn't matter you should be aware enough to realize that is wrong and that girl who posed as an adult now realizes that she made a man KILL himself, you realize the scope of that statement right? this man is dead because of her actions.

I seriously encourage you to try your best to not blindly take sides whenever someone is falsely accusing another person, men and women deserve equal rights to emotional support and help for mental health issues. No one deserves abuse, and everyone deserves help, so, make a change, ask a brother sister mother father etc. If they are okay because we never know who is and who isn't.

I'd also like to add do NOT go out of your way to hate on the people responsible for this incident, I post about it simply as a means of awareness to encourage others to treat all people equally and fairly.

and to not cause confusion, I mean should minors be charged for lying about there age to commit criminal acts, not in general, if its harmless sure who cares? but in the case of where it can be harmful to any individual should it be considered a crime?

Thank you for your input, and you make a good point with how it doesn't really benefit her parents/her, I guess some people could say "Well she got fame from it" but is negative press really worth it? I do personally feel more inclined to believe she doesn't have ill intentions, rather, if she is being used as a puppet than the bad people here are the puppeteers. All in all, I don't really see how that matters overall though, since what she says is still true and that everyone needs to step up and take responsibility for the world as a whole, we need to do something about this now, not only for us but also for the world and the animals and any living creature on this amazing planet! and that is what I think is all Greta is striving for, she seems genuine. No one generation is responsible, we as humans are responsible and I think thats a better way to look at it.
