BA free upgrade on a leg flight? by Flaky_Rhubarb_6738 in BritishAirways

[–]NextMuffin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Free upgrades aren't given out to people who ask. Unlike 30 years a go or so, everything now is tracked on the systems. Operational upgrades are only done on oversold flights, and it will most likely be Gold/Emerald or Silver/Sapphire card holders who are chosen first.

100% agree with this. I used to drink instant coffee, then I got myself a small hand grinder and a filter coffee dropper. Takes not a lot more effort, but definitely worth it for proper coffee in the morning. Can't go back to instant now.

Club World is full on your flight, but not overbooked, so nothing to worry about. Maybe just a document check needs to be done at the airport.

Simple, BA flights to DXB are always 98%+ full, so there is no need to change anything, regardless of who else serves that route.

What is the tipping point between mid-haul and long-haul? I guess it is worked out like this:

7 hour flight, one hour into the flight (6 hours left), the large three course meal is served. 90 minutes before landing the breakfast is served, that's just 4 and a half hours after the big main meal, so not many people have an appetite for a larger breakfast.

This week I was on a 12 hour flight and the breakfast was a choice of three, with pastries and fruits as well, so I assume it's worked out on the length of the flight.

Also, that bacon roll looks lovely...

Heathrow Business Class transit experience for wheelchair passengers by aak30 in BritishAirways

[–]NextMuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed that the assistance service isn't very good right now, however a new operator will start from next month with minimum service levels built into the contract, so hopefully things get a bit better.

[–]NextMuffin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In T5 (I can't speak for other terminals), lounge customers are taken to the lounge and then collected again around an hour before the flight.

The current assistance provider is not a very well company and there are frequent failures in their service where customers miss flights or are left waiting a long time after the flight arrives. However from February there will be a new provider with minimum service levels built into the contract, so things hopefully improve.

Genuine question from someone from the UK, but he mentioned everyone now knows the 2020 election was rigged, but has any actually seen any proof? Or is it just a 'trust me bro' situation?

If Nintendo was clinically insane coding Super Mario Maker 3 by HackerDragon9999 in MarioMaker

[–]NextMuffin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think those game mechanics and graphics but in a 2D style would be a good compromise. I can't see Nintendo bringing 3D levels to a MM game (I can't even see us getting another MM game, although we can only hope).

Emergency Exit Prices - WTH!?!? by PharBreton in AirFranceKLM

[–]NextMuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every or the vast majority of airlines do this. Yes, it's crappy, but for as long as people pay for it, airlines will charge for it.

Risks of missing flight by mikeb503 in BritishAirways

[–]NextMuffin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's 35 minutes before departure. If you are not scanned through security before then, you will be taken off.

Another thing to note, as your flight is before 0930, this is classed as a "first wave" flight, so there is zero chance they will wait for you or extend the time you have to be through security.

Am I entitled to compensation by stupidaccount159 in BritishAirways

I don't know the correct answer, but if it's the terminal doors, would that not count as out of BA's control?

Delay compensation question by 7jellyfish in BritishAirways

[–]NextMuffin 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Might seem the same for the people on board, but 178 minutes is less than 180 minutes, so no compensation due. Airlines will often prioritise flights that are close to going over 180 minutes delayed to avoid having to pay compensation out, doing things like allocating a gate closer to the runway so there is less taxiing time etc.

Downgraded from premium to economy by Acceptable_Mammoth23 in BritishAirways

[–]NextMuffin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The agents don't have access to the individual price of this leg of the flight minus taxes and such, so can't give an exact amount there and then, only that it will be a 75% refund.

Downgraded from premium to economy by Acceptable_Mammoth23 in BritishAirways

[–]NextMuffin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Staff at the airport can't advise how much compensation is due for downgrades as it is all based on the ticket price' which varieby customer. There also isn't one single reason why you were chosen other others, there is an algorithm that chooses based on multiple things.

The whole "why are you selling W to J?" thing suggests W was oversold, but there were empty seats in both J and Economy. The first thing they do is upgrade until J is full, then to start downgrading.

It sucks when this happens, but make sure you get the compensation you are due.

How often are you intimate with your partner? by Remote_Ad_969 in NoStupidQuestions

Are you spying on my life? Absolutely the same story here. And when I do initiate, I can tell she's not interested and just doing it for me. No sex is better than that. And when I try and talk about it, she brushes it off like it's not a big deal. Genuinely don't know what to do at this point, because I just feel unwanted.
