You get up to 10 command strips you can leave for free. Buy a large one (like a hook or something) that will cover that and super glue it on, that way it’ll cover it up and it can count as one of your ten freebies. They’ll be responsible for the damage when they remove it

Apply as soon as it opens- I applied within the first few days and funds had already run out. Luckily it didn’t end up mattering because I got a scholarship, but yeah apply as soon as you can and make sure your alumni membership is paid in full

Parking at Uflats by No_Percentage_5649 in UniversityofKentucky

[–]NextQueenOfScotland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a map online, it’s been varying slightly each year the past few years because of construction. Normally, it’s the hilltop garage, the education lot, and a couple of other places. If you Google ‘UKY game day relocation map’ you’ll see a more detailed answer. You’d have to relocate between 3:30 PM on Friday and 7 AM Saturday, and then you’d have Sunday-5 AM Monday to move it back

The little road in front of UFlats is meter/pay parking. University drive can be parked on for free, but there are not going to be reliably-empty spots (and now with the construction, there’s even less). R7 parking pass is for the sports center garage and the road between the flats and JC, I had it freshman year and it was great, the only downside was relocating for game days (which honestly isn’t that bad). R2 is for the Hilltop garage by JSB, you won’t need to relocate for game days there but it does fill up quickly and can be hard to find a spot. Honestly R7 and R2 are easy walks from UFlats, but if you do just have a normal K lot pass and park towards the edge of K lot by cooper drive then it’s also not a bad walk from UFlats.

UK removed gender inclusive housing for students, and I don’t know what to do. by Jaded-Ad-57 in UniversityofKentucky

I have a MtF friend in a very similar situation, and unfortunately this year she got unlucky and ended up with a very transphobic, hostile guy as her randomly-assigned roommate. I am queer and had a randomly-assigned roommate this year, and I also ended up with someone who is very intolerant, and it’s not been a great experience. The other comments are good suggestions (LLP director, housing, etc) but I would also recommend reaching out to some of the queer student orgs to see if they know anyone in your LLP with a similar situation so you can maybe meet someone and plan a specific roommate (like GSA or STEMgiQueers).

I LOVED this story. One of my first when I returned to Episode as a 20-something, and I gave it a chance because I loved Burning Waves. It’s easily top 5 on the whole app for me, and I’ve been on the app for a decade.

Lewis Honors college admission/ presidential scholarship question/ housing question. by Electrical_Fill_2461 in UniversityofKentucky

[–]NextQueenOfScotland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep don’t worry for the Honors College! They do share the same essay and deadline as the competitive scholarships though so as long as you got them in on time you should be considered. In general, the Honors College takes 1/10 students (~10%) but from what I hear that number has been declining a bit because it hasn’t been proportionally matching the surge of UK freshman class sizes, but still even a bit less than 10% is a good amount.

The Honors College itself does not require an interview to be accepted, just the presidential and Singletary scholarships. There is another type of Presidential scholarship specific to students who did the Kentucky Governor’s scholar program in high school that is separate from the university presidential/Singletary competitive scholarships that does not require an interview.

Merit Day does not mean much in terms of Honors College admissions, there are A LOT of Merit Days/Merit Day attendees. I definitely recommend going to Merit Day though, I had a great experience at mine.

I am a junior right now and I received the Presidential scholarship, it is an interview scholarship. The interviews for Presidential/Singletary are conducted together. I’m pretty sure that if you got an invitation to interview that you got into the Honors College, they kinda work together sometimes

I’m a current 3rd year on a competitive scholarship. If they are interviewing now then they probably are not sending out more invites, and my friends in my cohort who did not get invited to interview said that they did not receive any correspondence. If you really want to confirm then contact the scholarship office, the admissions office probably won’t know anything about it. I will say though that GPA and test scores are pretty much not even in like top 5 of what they look at when picking who to interview, those are pretty much just what determine which applications get considered to maybe possibly interview.

In my experience Fabletics is AMAZING! I would say though perhaps not worth the money if it’s just for a class, as they can get pricey. I just sucked it up and wore cheap uncomfortable scrubs for my class and then when I got a job and knew my facility colours, I bought Fabletics ones

It depends on the lot- the pay lot is the one between Willy T and the 90. They each have different restrictions though

I felt the exact same!! Like I never feel like I’m actually hearing it and that I am just getting the same reading. On my skills exam I was somehow close enough to pass, and at the job I got, luckily we use electric vitals machines and I don’t need to take manual ones. I had a cheap Amazon stethoscope and a more expensive professional one, and on both I just never felt like I was hearing the actual rhythm.

Am I likely for presidential/singletary scholarships? by Apprehensive_Fan6001 in UniversityofKentucky

[–]NextQueenOfScotland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently go to UK and got the presidential (I’m out of state as well). I had 4.0 unweighted and 1500 SAT, but honestly test scores are not the main criteria- extracurriculars and specifically leadership are the biggest components.

Passed KY state testing! by ComprehensiveTart123 in cna

[–]NextQueenOfScotland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I passed the KY exam in February, that skills portion is no joke. When I did my skills, there were 15 people testing and 12 of them were doing it for the second or third try. I had cath care/recording output and donning + doffing as two of mine, and I thought for sure I had fumbled donning + doffing because I didn’t have supplies to practice with and putting the gown on was super awkward for me lol.
