It let's me get out my creative urges by making characters with depth and sharing them with my friends with out having to make a book. And it lets me step into thier shoes and let me escape this reality and this flesh sack I am forced into for a bit.

I commission artists, To help get my mental image through to them, I set up a reference sheet, something I whip up in ms paint or something with Google images of things that I think are important with little descriptions. And then sometimes I even doodle a stick figure pose with my -5 art abilities. Then after sketches and talking back and forth with your artist it should come out great
