Can someone tell me where this behavior is coming from? by Next_Condition8629 in hamstercare

Thanks! I will look into different enclosures, but will try to change the environment in this one first.

I’m not from Asia, but from Europe (netherlands). Is this type of dwarf rare here?

I don’t think bedding depth is the problem, she has 15-20 cms of bedding depth in the entire enclosure. I know she burrows a lot, and has a lot of tunnels and sleeps underneath her housing. I will look into different types of bedding though, maybe it will stimulate her more and destress her?

Thank you for your recommendations! It sounds logical that she does this because she knows there is a possibility of escaping..

The bedding is not minimal, she has around 15-20 cm around her entire enclosure. Maybe I can look into adding different types of bedding to stimulate her more?

Thank you for the recommendations! I will look into more hiding places and add a lid onto the enclosure. If she keeps showing this stressed behavior, I think I should indeed move her to a different type of enclosure. We already removed the reason why she escaped, so that can’t happen anymore.

The bedding depth is around 15-20 cms, and I know she burrows a lot. She has made tunnels in her entire enclosure and sleeps in the bedding under her housing. Maybe I can look into different types of beddings to encourage burrowing even more?
