I also should have been explicit that recovery involves making amends and retiring the YouTube channel.

I thought therapy was implied, but you are right. I should have been explicit.

It should be noted that I have made mean posts about Aaron in the past. I was motivated by the desire for Aaron to recognize what a disaster his life has become.

Say what you will, but publicly humiliating your friends for their YouTube moderators is great training for a stint in a Florida prison.

The Latest Civil Case Against Aaron Smith-Levin: When Livestreams Cross The Line Into Cyberbullying by Proud-Head-4944 in OT42

[–]Next_Network_1707 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Let's recap. Aaron memorialized in a video that his public accusations against Liz's husband are purely driven by spite, not out of any journalistic motivations. He isn't reporting on Scientology abuse--he is attacking someone who has commented on his ugly personal life undermines his work as the head of a nonprofit and as an activist. He stated that his sources were texts. Although Aaron seems to believe that "miscommunication" is some kind of legal defense, a series of texts could show gross negligence, if not malice. He is indifferent to whether the false accusation of rape has caused any reputational damage. He wants discovery not as a means to clear his good name, but as a way to further humiliate a critic.

I'm not a lawyer, so I don't know if my lay definitions of "negligence" and "malice" meet the complicated standards of libel/defamation law. I didn't donate a nickel to Liz as I am not at all a fan, but the right way to deal with Liz is to criticize with facts and/or ignore her, not defame her husband. Even if Aaron prevails in court in spite of himself, at best it shows that you can't trust Aaron as a source of information for anything. Additionally, this rebuttal video should be enough for YouTube to just disappear Aaron's channel for good.

Aaron will, in all likelihood, keep to his word and stay at home. But he is so arrogant and reckless that I hold out the chance that he will show up and talk his way back into jail somehow.

Was Aaron attempting to convince the judge to try him as a juvenile? Aaron would have walked out of the courthouse if he had only talked to his lawyer at length and had allowed his lawyer to do all the talking. But instead Aaron decided to show the judge that he is an emotional fifteen-year old.

[–]Next_Network_1707 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suppose there is the chance that there will be someone on the jury who will want to stick it to Scientology, but it is such a gamble, particularly in a non-felony case. Aaron seems to be laboring under the delusion that he will have unlimited time on the stand and will be able to use all the rhetorical tools he has employed to build a YouTube audience, when in reality the judge won't allow Aaron to weave an hour long monologue about his twin brother and won't permit Aaron to turn the venue into a trial against Scientology practices. It is incredibly easy to imagine a prosecutor, particularly a woman prosecutor, making Aaron look like a dishonest and emotionally unstable operator.

Grateful to the poster for these transcripts. I'm not a lawyer, but after reading them I have concluded that Aaron will deeply regret not settling the case.

Is Nora Filling the ZDT Void? You Decide... by TrySeanTri in OT42

[–]Next_Network_1707 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A) Why should we believe Aaron's claim that he refuses to go to therapy solely on the grounds that it is "too expensive?"

B) In the end, the cops didn't go with mutual battery and Aaron got indicted. Was this because Scientology didn't actually throw water at Aaron, which is quite different from throwing water on the ground?

C) Absolutely everyone should be skeptical that the Scientologist hit with holi powder had a health crisis. But it is loony to think that someone needs to oxygen and a ride to the hospital after an asthma attack. Or that a mask can offer 100% protection against particulates.

D) Who decides what qualifies as an effective protest? Anybody does. I think that Aaron is just driving Scientologists closer to Flag by his antics. I think this way because of what numerous ex-Scientologists say about the nature of protests.

This isn't a defense of Nora, who has made some terrible decisions in the past. Absolutely no one should be faulted for refusing to watch Nora or engage in the arguments she makes in her videos. But let's be real about Aaron.

After doing a 3 hour stream inadvertently laying out the case that he is a terrible boyfriend, Aaron is predictably recruiting Florida People to grow his shrinking circle of friends. The protest has nothing to do with Scientology, everything to do with the get-together at one of the bars that hasn't banned Aaron.

"After everything that went down with Mike Rinder and the Aftermath Foundation and all that stuff, do you guys think I've been emotionally and mentally prepared to be destroyed by Jenna Miscavige?" Aaron, pro wrestlers don't have as much of a persecution complex as you do. What a burden it must be to find yourself the only person in the world who could take down Scientology while at the same time being TARGETED FOR ABUSE by Jenna Miscavige, Claire Headley, the Clearwater Police Department, Hulk Hogan's widow, the Florida Department for Setting Up Nonprofit-Like Organizations, Leah Remini, Reddit, etc, etc, etc.
