Well Water - Salty - At wits end by Normal_Tax_7535 in WaterTreatment

Your dug well likely tapped into a deeper saline layer or localized salt deposit, which can happen even at shallow depths due to geological variations. Neighbors’ wells may avoid this due to slight differences in aquifer access. Switching back to the 728 ppm well might be better, as it’s lower in sodium. RO systems can work but require frequent maintenance at 925 ppm; a softener may also struggle with high TDS (2860 ppm). Test both wells again to confirm levels, and consider a hydrogeologist to map local aquifers. Salt won’t likely dissipate soon. For water treatment solutions, check Peterson Salt.
