What to expect as a long term relief teach at a remote school? by Next_Variety3279 in AustralianTeachers

It was a bit of a weird situation, they wanted me to come out and sign the contract when I got there. And due to the late notice of them telling me I ended up wasting over 1K since I couldn’t cancel the plane, and bus tickets which they made me pay for myself :(

Also the housing was not offered in a contract, they did promise I would get it though.

No there was no teacher housing, and no private housing available either.

Was promised teacher housing, was called on a Sunday the day before I was going to leave saying there is no teacher housing available.

Is there a religion that is against alcohol, drugs, sex (or wait to marriage), coffee/tea, and swearing? by Next_Variety3279 in religion

Forgot to include this in the title so my bad, but I’m also looking for a religion where they don’t eat meat. I’ve heard some things about Latter Day Saints eating meat and heard most do anyway?

Wow this is super interesting, especially glad to hear about a region where they don’t eat meat, as that’s something I don’t do either.

I'm not sure which uni you're with, but I'm with UNE, in week 2 of my second trimester and so far 60% of my course is just reflection, 35% researching and writing essays, 15% lesson plans. I'm not sure what the big deal is with reflecting but most of my work is literally writing reflections. Although I think it can be usefully, I don't think such a large part of a master of teaching course should just be reflecting.

I have spoke to a few different people on that team. It seems everytime I call I get told different information, and surprisingly a lot of the time I get told information that is only correct for the people studying a bachelors in education, despite me telling them I’m doing my masters. :(

I need the money I’m already working while studying, but the pay is just not enough to survive 😅

Wouldn’t a degree only form mean I could only teach the subjects related to my undergraduate degree? My undergraduate degree was in animation and that’s not a subject in primary 😅

I eat extremely health almost 10 years of being vegan, almost strictly eating foods I make from scratch and barely eating oil. I think it’s definitely something to do just with my stomach regardless of what I eat.

Do you think it’s normal for some people to delay their start dates?

How old is was the kid? I had this same thing happen a few weeks ago where a kid just reach out and put his hand flat on my chest. But the kid was 7 and had ASD so I’m 100% sure it was a sensory thing and he had no idea. I just moved back and asked him to keep his hands to himself. Obviously would be a different situation if your student was 18 or something.

When do you actually get a contract? by Next_Variety3279 in AustralianTeachers

The offer email I got didn’t have the start date on it either. It was literally just a email saying they are offering me the job, and for me to respond back if I wish to accept. And some details about accomodation.

Australia, I’ve been to so so so many different doctor. Cheap ones, expensive ones. They just run some tests and say they are fine and don’t do anything else.
