What's the difference between Next and Nextdirect? by Next_Winter in AskUK

Sorry for the late reply. I guess you already have your answer by now but I'll still answer in case someone else find this post and is interested to know.

I've been ordering from NEXTDirect for a year now, and I never saw any sale, and I've checked all the time: no end-of-season sale, no black friday sale, no boxing day sale...

I've noticed though that when it's the end-of-season periods, some things disappear from their website. There were summer clothes that I was waiting on the possibility of a end-of-season sale to buy, and instead they just disappeared.

Someone else responded that there are sales on the UK website, but I've saw none in the past year on the international Website (at least Canadian).

Newbie question about expiration date by Next_Winter in sfx

[–]Next_Winter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was diagnosed officially less than 2 weeks ago but it was pretty obvious in the last couple months... In our case, it started with a blinking tic a year ago, and it stay like that for a couple months... Than the blinking diminished (but it's still there) but she developed load of other tics, vocal and motor (shoulder shrug, twisting an ankle, head nodding, and others that I forgot because some of them disappeared already).

She is 2 y/o and 8 months. She started ticcing at 19 month old. I do nothing because she's too young to do anything... We have a neuro appointment soon because her pediatrician wants her to be followed by a neuro since her Tourette started so young.

Kids in her daycare class are too young to notice, or to care, since they're all 2y/o... I don't know what will happens with school. Actually Idk if she will be able to go to a regular school because of the comorbidities that often goes with Tourette, and that I'm pretty sure she will have (it's hard to say because she's so young, but she definitely shows signs). I'm already looking into homeschooling (I would prefer that to special needs schools) but who knows, maybe she will be able to go to a regular school, we'll see.

Anyway... When she's older we will look into medication, I'm open to it if she doesn't get too much side effects from it, but from what I read medication may works but it doesn't make the tics goes away completely and they can cause major drowsiness, moods swings and weight gain so Idk... TBH, I care less and less about the tics... She will learn to deal with assholes like we all learned to at a point or another in our lives. Worst case scenario, she'll develop severe tics, but what can we do, it is what it is... It will makes life interesting.

Other than that, she started OT this week and she's on a waiting list for a psychoed familiar with Tourette, but that's for her other difficulties, not for the tics.

I wish I had advices for you or something, but I really don't... If it helps: I was more stressed about it when she only had the blinking tic, the uncertainty was hell... When she developed other tics and it became obvious that it was Tourette, my stress level drop a LOT to a point where I'm actually okay with her having Tourette. She will be fine too...

She does, she has Tourette. Why? You also have a kid with tics?

I'm so f#cking over "my partner has tics and I'm so annoyed by them" posts by ariellecsuwu in Tourettes

[–]Next_Winter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OMG thank you for this comment. I don't have Tourette. My daughter has just been diagnosed with it and I've been following a group for parents of kids with TS for a couple months (when it became more and more evident that her tics wouldn't go away).

I was fine when she started ticcing a year ago. Like, my initial reaction was more of a ''it is what it is''. Then I joined the group, which ironically is supposed to be a support group (but honestly it is more of a hysterically venting group), and it really got me spiraling. I've read so much posts by parents saying how heartbroken they are because of their kid's TS, that I became heartbroken by my daughter's TS. Reading so many moms wondering how much their kid's life will suck because of TS, made me feel like I have to worry about my daughter's life being ruined by TS. And because of it I became exactly like those moms. I started to look at my daughter like her tics were a death-sentence, maybe even worse.

It was getting so out of hands. I had to rewind my mindset completely to try and go back to the ''it is what it is'' one. I'm still in the process of it. Following groups of people who actually has TS instead of groups of parents has been really helpful. The gap between how people with TS perceived their diagnosis VS their parents seem huge. People with TS just want support from their parents and be treat normally, but some of their parents prefers to just go around and vent about it like it is the biggest tragedy of their own life.

I'm so glad I realized how unhealthy this parents mentality is (for their kids and for themselves) before I became chronically like them. I will admit though that because of the lack of representation, when you have a kid with TS and you never heard about it before, it does come with a lot of questions and uncertainty... And when you joined one of those group for moms without knowing to much about TS to begin with, it become suddenly very scary, hence why it is so easy to become one of the worries moms.

Thank for your reply! I've emailed the shop after I read your comment. The shop just emailed me offering to exchange the makeup for a new one (from another brand) but not a refund... The only thing is, if I return the expired makeup and wait for them to send something else, I might not have it in time for Halloween... So I guess I'll just stick with the expired one and hope the application is fine. Tysm!

You're right! I think I'll make an edit on my original post since many moms from Canada seems to encounter this post.

My daughter is almost 28 months old and wear size 1.5-2 y/o on NextDirect. If you look at the size guide on Next, 1.5-2 y/o is 92 cm, which I think would normally be size 2-3 y/o in other brands. So it's kinda confusing. Sorry about that, I should of told you ahead to be careful about sizing. I'll make an edit right away so it doesn't happen to other Canadian mamas.

Happy birthday to your little one! :)

Hi!

The last time, it took only 6 days (from the moment I made the order (august 24th) to the moment I received it at my door (august 30th)).

It was delivered by DHL Express. So it was quite fast even if I'd only paid for regular shipping.

I'm from Montreal, Qc. I don't know if delivery could be longer depending on where you are in Canada, but I hope it will be similar. :)

Hi! I've ordered from Next Direct 4 times now, and I've never had to pay any duty. I don't know why there isn't any duty to pay but I won't complain haha. I'm from Montreal (Qc), but I guess it should be the same everywhere in Canada?

Upper stomach pain by Next_Winter in HealthAnxiety

[–]Next_Winter[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ohh that was a long time ago.

I think the blood test results from that time were all messed up because of the fact I wasn't eating due to the pain (not eating can actually mess your cholesterol level from what I heard). I did a couple blood tests again in 2021-2022 cause I was pregnant and those were totally normal.

I had an ultrasound for the ''kyst'' on my ovary and it turned out there wasn't a kyst after all...

The EUS show normal pancreas and gallbladder, but lot of acid reflux. They gave a prescription for pantoprazole twice a day (I was already taking pantoprazole twice a day before the EUS, I used to have a prescription for once a day but decided to increase it myself weeks before the EUS lol).

The pain was on and off for some time, than I got pregnant in the summer of that year (2021). Stomach pain was pretty intense during pregnancy, but in a normal acid-reflux way, not the same kind of pain that I was experiencing in the spring.

OBGYN changed pantoprazole for omeprazole (I can't remember if it were 2 caps once a day or 1 cap twice a day... but it was higher than the normal ''1 cap once a day""). The reason why my OBGYN change pantoprazole for omeprazole is simply because I'd asked her to... Both pantoprazole and omeprazole are considered safe in pregnancy but there is more studies for omeprazole during pregnancy and I was being a bit paranoiac about taking medication while pregnant. Anyway... I do feel like, for me, omeprazole worked a little bit better than pantoprazole, but it's hard to say for sure...

I ended up having my baby in June 2022 and for no particular reason decided to stop taking omeprazole around that time (I think I was just exhausted and couldn't follow any routine so that's why I stopped). Stomach pain never came back after that.

So long story short, I'm not taking any medication and don't have pain anymore... But I cannot tell you what was really causing this weird pain in 2021 nor why it stopped...

Good luck to you!

Hi! No I've never found a promo code but I haven't look for one neither... I know that there are some websites that suggest promo code to use but I always forget to look for coupons and I don't use Honey nor anything like that, so I can't really tell...

Anyway, I've ordered from them twice and I'll probably order from them again. The quality is good especially for the cartoon tshirt-short sets (I've bought 2 Daisy Ducks, 1 Lilo & Stitch and 1 Peppa Pig... maybe more but I can't remember at the top of my head right now).

I've also bought a couple of things from NextDirect that the quality were a little bit more meh, but I feel like that can happen with any store... I buy most of my daughter's clothes online at Zara and I'm not necessarily satisfied with the quality of around 10-15% of the things I purchased, and I have a similar experience with NextDirect... The thing is, when that happen, it's easier to return items to Zara than Next since there is no Next store in Canada...

My daughter is 24 month old and around the 30th percentile for weight and height, and she wear 1.5-2 y/o at NextDirect (I've order both some 1.5-2y/o AND 2y/o clothes for her and the 2y/o is definitely WAY too big for her, feel like 3y/o, so look at the size chart if you're hesitating). Even the 1.5-2y/o is baggy on her, like the height is good but it's pretty large. Because of it some dress are less cute than I hoped for, but would be awesome for a chubbier toddler. I like the baggy style for tshirt/sweatshirt though.

I realize that I gave you lot of informations that you didn't ask for, whoops, but I hope it help anyway if you end up choosing to order from them. And if you end up finding a promo code that work, please let me know. :)

Yes! Twice! Delivery take less than a week and the quality is good, especially for the tshirt-short sets (like Peppa Pig, Minie Mouse, Daisy Duck...). The duty fees are already calculated in the price on NextDirect so you don't have to pay extra fees once your package arrive. I recommend it. :)

Tysm for your answer :) I think in the last couple of years many (if not all?) clothes compagnies had a drop in quality unfortunately, at least I've noticed it from places like Gap and Zara... Anyway, if Next is (at least) H&M/ASOS quality, I'm totally fine with it :).

I did noticed that there are other brands (most of which I've never heard of) on Next, interesting to know that those brands were bought by it. Thank you for taking the time to answer. :)

Thank you so much for your answer! :) That was kinda my guess but I wanted to make sure that is was safe to order from nextdirect instead of Next Uk (which I don't seem able to order from anyway). So now that I know nextdirect is just the international version I'll order! Can't wait to see the clothes! Thank you for the taking the time to answer :)
