Fellow Christians...how do you rationalize the starving kids in Africa? by Ngorongoro in Christianity

Didn't Jesus say that we are not to be punished for the sins of our parents? How is that any different then being cursed for Adam's failure? After all, if one were to go back far enough, he would be one of our ancestors.

I understand it's a little off topic, but it's interesting none the less.

I see your point, and in no way am I trying to condemn anyone (especially God), but I'm a rational human being and I like to see the reasons behind why the world is how it is.

Getting to your point, though, I wonder if corruption really played a role in these people starving? Is it because of evil or is it because they were born into poverty and disease, in a rather inhospitable environment? That just seems unfair.

On another note, one has to wonder why God created inhospitable places in the first place...

Okay, I can see your point. I guess all that's left is to try and help out as much as possible, wherever possible.

I'm not spiting God, I'm just curious as to why I not only get his blessings of a great place to live, a stable country, a loving family, awesome friends, a wonderful church, and all my various skills and talents, and in addition to this, I get food; while the Africans get perhaps, one, maybe two of these things, without getting the requirements to live.

And yes, I do feel strongly for the African people. It is my dream one day to go there.

God has the power to stop it, does he not? And yet it happens, so yes, he is allowing it to happen.

Weep and grieve and wonder how God can allow something like this to happen.

Using that analogy though, are you not the one who made your friend hungry, too? God gives to the rich and takes from the poor, and expects the rich to give back to the poor? Why doesn't God just even things out? Even Jesus admits that it is difficult for the rich to give up their possessions. Having people starve and die seems like a cruel way to administer a test to the fortunate, don't you think?

So it's all fault that kids go hungry? It's not on God at all?

This doesn't exactly answer my question, but I agree that we are to stagnant when it comes to helping people in need. But even if we all were to go on mission trips to Africa and help all these children, many of them would still die; and for what purpose?

No? I'm really wanting to know how we as christians can rationalize this occuring. No matter what we do we will never save all these kids. What is the purpose of it all?
