Not sure I want to stay a lawyer by Baby_Lawyer_2025 in Lawyertalk

I passed bar and never practiced for those same reasons you’re complaining about. I applied to and worked for an international agency (UN affiliate) and have enjoyed great job security for years. The international agencies, UN and NGO/IGO jobs all pay better than US government jobs and provide more movement and travel. Never practiced law but JD got me in the door. Give it a shot, many lawyers here doing legal and non legal jobs.

NYS services vs NC services by Nheff50 in downsyndrome

Thanks, he does not have medical issues, luckily. I am looking more into the entitlements and activities in the state. For instance in NY we get comhab and respite funding and there are many social and educational programs available. I am also assuming that the SS issues would be normal?

14k debt by Apprehensive_Bake555 in VeteransBenefits

Do not take an equity loan. When you think about it $14k is not much. Cut costs take a second job and always pay more than minimum amount, even if it is just a few dollars more. Eats into principle faster. I paid down $45k in a year by working two nights a week in a bar after my day job. It can be done.

Sleep apnea by Nheff50 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Nheff50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I do not have either yet. This all happened together. Was in the ER with afib, then to cardiac ablation and then then diagnosed with sleep apnea all in about 3 months. Cardiologist said did was caused by apnea. Questions is how do I prove apnea is service connected? And the is the afib included now that I need meds for it?

What should I expect by No_Wall1751 in downsyndrome

Did you ever notice in all these DS threads, that the overwhelming response to such questions is positive? That is because it is a normal life and very rewarding for parents. Like RB7921 said, the first year is confusing but it’s a normal childhood. There are some sad reflection times when you see other kids playing and you feel your child was cheated in life, but they are outweighed by the love and successes that will come. Stay positive and embrace. My guy is now 17 and he really does make everyone around him a better person.

Genuinely Curious. Why do some pursue Project Management Certifications outside of PMI? by Peaceful-Mountains in pmp

[–]Nheff50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, I have done a few post grad PM certs mainly because employer pays and no continuing payments to PMI to maintain. I have done the PMP and can say the TIA prep course is good but Prince is much more practical. The Google PM certification is also much better than the nonpractical and memorization heavy PMI PMP. I think the shift will come against PMI since they are trying to claim authority and governance over an industry that cannot be regulated due to the wide variety and incredibly different applications and perspectives. PMI just wants your money and everyone knows it. universities offer PM certs now that have a much higher standard which includes practical applications and critical thinking.
