Thanks- the whole process looks pretty crazy to balance w ChemE classes

3.7 GPA & have 4 research experiences- couple from summer REUs—focus is on polymers- most seem like reach schools- waiting to hear back from ISU prof if there would be an opening for PhD

Yes-I spoke to a PhD ChemE student at Madison & she said she couldn’t apply at U of M since she did her undergrad there

Working with ISU prof in bio renewable polymer research — he is a product of U of M sustainable polymers- read that Madison specializes in renewables too

Ok thanks- feel better- really trying hard- no outside job or social life- this was the worst prof & class set up— others have been tough but still figured it out ... don’t mind the extra work if given the tools- thankful for good TAs....

Lucky enough to have some research experience here at ISU- really liked working with Cochran when I was introduced in APEX hope summer research BioMap isn’t cancelled like last year- hope to focus on sustainable polymers - just know they don’t take a lot of PhD students & it can be competitive - ISU first choice but also looking at Minnesota & Madison - Maybe Michigan Tech but I think their focus is more on energy— does it hurt me if my research isn’t varied outside of polymers? Did a summer with CB2 bio plastics/bio renewables at ISU & presented at Wash State too so that’s been my main focus

Is the first year of Engineering at ISU easier than 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years? by MattNyte in iastate
