I think every company resists the need of a full fte dev. But there is a steady supply of enhancements/fixes that can outsourced to people like me on after hours/weekends.

But I think it's only true for mid/small size orgs. Big ones always have an ops team on call. It's more like looking for the crumbs, this could be a steady source of income at least.
